520 Horsepower Station Wagon... Why?

Sure it looks cool, but in all seriousness who in the hell is going to buy this? Are soccor moms lining up to buy these to get to the grocery store as fast as they fucking can? LOL! Are tuners going to buy these and do them up? Are corvette/viper buyers tired of not having any space for their golf clubs and hockey gear and want something more subdued?

I just can't figure out what kind of buyer would want this?

Here is some more information on the ride.

Why not? Never heard of Audi RS6 or RS4? Kick-ass machines.

djroof 05-07-2006 05:00 AM

wow reall horse power!

gecko 05-07-2006 05:01 AM

Looks pretty bad ass

Jakke PNG 05-07-2006 05:04 AM

In all seriousness, I do see a market for high-power station wagons (in europe atleast). why?

- People sort of frown down on expensive cars here, and say audi rs6 is a real sleeper
- Station wagon has way way way superior space compared to a sedan
- Suvs are fugly and stupid, and only americans drive them. :)
- People don't own 12 cars per household in europe, so wife gets a good shopper that fits the baby carriage and the husband has a kick-ass 'sports'-car that fits his golfclubs.

..now this was from european point of view, I know north-americans love their SUV's. :)

dakota1358 05-07-2006 05:05 AM

Nice looking station wagon

Oh I have heard of them and I LOVE them :)

But the Audi RS6 and RS4 are sedans not station wagons (well over here they aren't, maybe in Europe they are).

skinnay 05-07-2006 05:46 AM

RS6 was ONLY available as a station wagon in europe a few years back, then they added sedan versions too. :) Not sure about rs4. :)

biftek 05-07-2006 05:55 AM

i can see a market for it ,
the household budget is getting tight now , mortage ,interest rates , petrol etc etc , offering a car that has 2 in one , serves as a family mover and as a car for the hubby to roar around in

tyler. 05-07-2006 05:59 AM

great looking car with a lot of HP

it's funny that you mentioned petrol talking about a car that has a 6.1 liter V8, 520HP :winkwink:

georgeyw 05-07-2006 06:21 AM

it's a beast - there is always going to be a market for cars such as this. One of the most popular cars ever built in aus is a panel van (sandman).

evildick 05-07-2006 06:23 AM

Someone will buy it and fill the entire back portion up with subwoofers. Most likely my neighbour.

the shagging wagon

MikeVega 05-07-2006 07:17 AM

I would buy it ... If fact I've been thinking of getting one for some time now ...

I'm getting tired of the SUV thing and Like the the power and handling of a sports car ... problem is that a sports car will not serve all my needs because of the lack of space. it's a good compromise ... I've seen a few really nice ones Rimmed up /tinted/TV's and sound great .. it's almost like a Hotrod if done right... I just saw one with two tone paint and nice rims and grill ... it looked hot .. if i ever get it I'll let you know how it is ..:2 cents:

MikeVega 05-07-2006 07:22 AM

Looks like they may come out with a coupe

Manowar 05-07-2006 08:56 AM

fritz 05-07-2006 08:58 AM

yeah we did - the first girl i ever loved her dad had one - and bob mctavish or one of that crew had one when they was surfin around the early 60s - but god only knows how they got this far

Pipecrew 05-07-2006 09:30 AM

The black guys rock these things everywhere, they are fast as balls too!

machinegunkelly 05-07-2006 09:34 AM

might be aimed at the younger parent .

I'd buy that in a fuggin heartbeat

MrIzzz 05-07-2006 09:42 AM

its a modern day muscle car...i love it. plenty of space for me to stretch my legs in and i can race vettes in it:pimp

ungratefulninja 05-07-2006 09:51 AM

In 1973 you could buy a Chevelle SS station wagon. It came with a 454 ci (7.4 L) engine. Saw one at the mall a while back.

As to why? I can only imagine if a dad is stuck buying something the family will fit in, but still wants to feel like a BAMF (sorta).

Argh! Well, the only time I've seen woodgrain panels was in shows like The Brady Bunch, and bad 80s American telemovies. :winkwink:

Was it real woodgrain or just stick on stuff?

Young 05-07-2006 09:58 AM

Hennesey Viper...........thats a fucking car. One of the fastest street legal if i recall correctly.

The Hennesey Maganum? Why is a good question.

mattt 05-07-2006 10:24 AM

Yeah 550HP is more safe then a car with 140HP:1orglaugh Of course some 'backup' power is great. But 550 is a lil bit over the top isn't it:)

FreeHugeMovies 05-07-2006 11:03 AM

520 HP on any car? Why?

A buddy has this in black. It's insane, fast as a vette but its a merc wagon.

Peaches 05-07-2006 11:30 AM

Hellpuppy has the 300 SRT and got to drive all the SRTs at the racetrack. He has a video of him driving the Magnum (he likes to drive sideways with a LOT of smoke around him ;) ). I showed it to Gabe and now Gabe thinks Tonda MUST have one, hehehe :)

Incarnate 05-07-2006 11:36 AM

Looks alright though.

nico-t 05-07-2006 11:51 AM

i always prefer a sedan or coupe over a station wagon... Yea it looks good but a sedan of the same car looks better, no exceptions

mechanicvirus 05-07-2006 11:55 AM

Since most people don't know too much about real drag racing..

Station wagons provide a better weight distribution in the rear which makes the car go faster than a sedan or coupe. Does it matter? not really, but it helps :)

I think you and I were talking about this - I ended up buying the Jeep Cherokee with the Hemi, but no SRT (not enough ground clearance - or $$$ ;) ).

Also got a Wrangler.

Both fun cars for totally different reasons :)
