nope - i am using Firefox for now but I hate how it handles video files - with IE it automatically starts MediaPlayer and begins playing - Firefox downloads the whole video to hard drive - can i change that?

only difference between how ie handles it and firefox is that ie your playing the buffer where as firefox downloads it so you get a smoother play with out the hassle of it jerking when buffereing

ie should have a repair feature , if you haven' done so , run a defrag , empty out your cache

You cannot fix it mate - only by using low level programming tactics can you write an application to get rid of the old copy - then download the latest copy.

Basically you have to bypass windows XP (some nasty programming) and then "kid" your PC that you never had a copy of IE in the first place.

Other ways are

Open dos box - and type "format c: /s" - then start over.

Ive had this problem too - it makes me want to piss on a tree.
