Tip for new webmasters!

When naming files, don't use capital letters or symbols, or spaces.

:winkwink:

DesignWise 05-06-2006 07:07 PM

hmmmn.. that make sense... do you guys think it dependes on your server OS? but it's better safe than sorry... :thumbsup

martinsc 05-06-2006 11:43 PM

so true...

CaptainWolfy 05-07-2006 02:53 AM

Sinstar 05-07-2006 03:59 AM

Great tip :P

djroof 05-07-2006 04:57 AM

thanks for that tip!

More Booze 05-07-2006 05:55 AM

Another tip: skip adult and get into mainstream.

Greg MissionD 05-07-2006 06:29 AM

I totally agree, makes it harder using tab to auto complete in an ssh session to get around the server too.

qft. i'd say it's wayyyyy easier to make $$$ in mainstream than adult if you have a good unique idea that's not insanely saturated.

eMonk 05-07-2006 06:36 AM

Fuck YEAH I hate it when that happens... weird thing is it's a sometime thing. Somepic.jpg will load regardless of the cap - I did a site install the other day and when I replaced the variable with the site name SomeSite.com I found it did that to all the links in the site, not just the body/text but the linking codes... now will that fuck me up? I left it 'cause it worked fine in IE and FF so WTF!?

MandyBlake 05-07-2006 09:14 AM

yeah i did that once before...it was hell lol

fritz 05-07-2006 09:20 AM

I have never seen a browser that would not display it if you input the proper caps.

If it is caps on the server, just use caps on the browser has been my experience

here's another tip: \ is not the same as /.

StuartD 05-07-2006 09:40 AM

Not even some "designers" know the differences... despite their designs not working on account of them:
