Every year at our cabin we have a big bonfire for the May 24th weekend.

A few pics of last year's fire. The colored flames are from adding lengths of copper pipe packed with strips of rubber garden hose. The chemical reaction between the melting rubber and the copper creates the colors.

The copper-pipe colors add a nice touch.

Just curious, how'd you know to pack copper piping with garden hose? I never saw that on Bill Nye the Science Guy....

Am I the only getting the flaming part here? :)

Just cut the hose lengthwise in to narrow strips and stuff them inside the pipe.

It has to be real rubber hose, tho. Not that cheap plastic crap.
