How about leave a bunch of rotting meat in your apartment and not tell them you're leaving.

My rent has gone up more than 20% in the 13 months that I've been here.

Everyone who was here when i moved in is gone.

The 3 pools are filled with more DNA than I care to test.

My neighbor has a ghetto system in his car and a $30 talking car alarm.

I hate this place.

Rent Increases :warning

Under the existing Act, rent increases can only be justified by increased costs experienced by the landlord. Under the new Act, rent increase limits will be set by regulation. In the government news release, these were described as "initially in the range of three to four per cent, plus a consumer price index adjustment". This is a concern because the rent increases could be high. During the past 10 years, annual changes in the CPI for Greater Vancouver have ranged from 0.5% to 3.6% so (under the new Act) rent increases of as high as 7 or 8%might be charged, and the tenant would have no ability to dispute the increase. A related concern is that the incentive is lost for landlords to maintain/repair their buildings in order to justify rent increases.

Another new feature is `catch up' rent increases. The new Act allows , through regulation, for rent increases to include not only an amount for the next year, but also for increases during the previous 3 years. The concern is that this amount could be so high that tenants would not be able to afford the increase in one lump, and would be forced to look for alternative, more affordable accommodation, when little exists. Vancouver's current vacancy rate is 1.1% and the vacancy rate for lower cost units is usually less.

They told me that they gave me that my rent was X and they were giving me a discount during the first 6 months so my rent "didn't go up" but that they "no longer applied the discount". then they gave me a yearly rent increase.

Oh, please do.

That should be top of the list...

wow that is insane.. do something that will force the landlord to have shell that cash out to fix then..not just something that can easily be fixed.

I actually did that once before...

i worked on a movie last summer and the transportation department would sneak on the set and leave rubber dog shit somewhere not so noticable. Aparently they did it on all the movies they worked on. They have sucessfully put rubber dog shit in 6 different movies where those takes made it to the final reel.

got one better. Its called an upper decker. you take the lid off the top of the toilet, and take a shit in there. that way when the next person flushes, they will get a shitty mess. ive done it, its great. :thumbsup

Dude none of you guys will ever be able to rent again if you do anything to bad. The best thing to do is get four big rats at a pet shop and a few baby ones also, put them in the closets, oven (do not have it on of course), under the sinks, etc... That would be a fun time for someone cleaning the place especially since rats/mice freak the hell out of a lot of people. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Hmm, around here you sign a 1 year lease, and for that time frame the price stays constant, only after your lease is up price can be changed, it doesn't work that way over there?

one guy flushed the toliet paper roller. clogged up the toliet the first day we moved in. so tahts a good one LOL
