Fleshlight WTF whats with the traffic leaks?

You guys redid the Site, and it looks good and all BUT WHAT THE FUCK is up with all the traffic leaks? seriously this is BS, there are more phone numbers showing up now for people to call in an order instead of order with my ref code and then also sending people to other pages and then if they come back to fleshlight its with a differnt ref code? what the fuck is that shit all about?

http://www.fleshlight.com/main/build....php?ref=54300

then click the how to video
you go here
http://www.fleshlight.com/main/video_byo.php

click the banner
FleshlightMedia bottom right of the video
then when you click fleshlight on the left navigation you get this
http://www.fleshlight.com/main/index.php?ref=55806

SO WHO THE FUCK IS ref=55806 ????/ I bet he is getting a shit load of sales that dont belong to him?????????????????

Ramos seems to take it as a joke, not bashing him but a more proff. answer would be nice don't you agree ;)))

fetishblog 05-05-2006 12:04 PM

Oh well. I've only ever had 2 sales with that program. I don't expect anymore since the last one was months ago. Bleh.

dial 05-05-2006 12:04 PM

all site should have dual tours, one for type in sales and one for affiliates...that goes for online stores too if they are planning on having traffic leaks

and for the fleshlight rep to come on gfy and make fun of the poster, well that is just tacky

davethetruth 05-05-2006 12:12 PM

We hide our phone # for this reason.

Fleshlight has a lifetime cookie, that ref code is tracking from the fleshlight media site (internal website) and is an internal ref code, meaning no one owns that ref code.

PeteKT still gets the credit for the sale from the original click

due to the lifetime cookie..

this is why we have implemented the lifetime cookie

and Pete is my friend, not bashing, bustin balls......(use the search function)

Don't know if he is your friend or not, I really don't care. POint is, people read this thread and see you (the fleshlight guy) post a pretty simple reply.

But this 2nd reply seems a bit better, so lets continue with the rest ;))))

Where is that video from Sushi last cybernet!

it's coming up again, I hope you bring your appetite..

hell bring dial too:)

Fleshlight Sushi Nights

dial 05-05-2006 12:17 PM

wait, so with the fleshlight lifetime cookie, does that mean that once my cookie is dropped, NO ONE else can make a sale on fleshlight from that user?

so, if someone spends all day surfing for porn and clicks a fleshlight link from somewhere else, then they come to my site a month later and I sell the hell out of them for a fleshlight and they click my link because I sold them HARD....I won't get credit for the sale because some other 400k unique a day site happen to have them click first a month ago?

that is jacked up dude

So what if someone calls in an order? Do they just say, "Uh yeah, I went to this page with PeteKT's ref code on it, and I'd like him to get credit for this sale."? I'm not being a smart ass, just merely wondering how you would keep track of phone orders.

no shit...damn...this is kind of messed up....shit, wish I had some traffic like that, I would just put up links all over my site that said "click her for more satisfaction" in a huge font and reap the lifetime cookie benefits

oh well, I tried the fleshlight thing, time to move on

it is pretty common for a tangible goods shop to have a phone call in order #, that should bother anyone....I do agree that there should be seperate entriess into the online store, one for affiliates and one for non-affiliates, but even the largest dvd stores online have phone #'s to call in orders...it doesn't happen as often as you might think

I tend to think so too, guess most don't want to pick up the phone and say "'hello my name is Jo Jerkoff, can you get me a fleshlight?". Not sure though ;)))

They should have it show a PROMO CODE under the phone number and make it display the AFFILIATE ID there... so when they order, fleshlight asks if you have a promo code and they give it.

hahaha..yeah...can you imagine someplace like adultdvdempire.com getting calls all the time "hey there, I would love to order shemale anal adventured vol 1-4 and suck my shemale asshole bitch vol 1...and oh yeah, can you throw in valumes 1-6 of shemale eats ass and cock for lunch?"

hehe

True, I guess. I just couldn't see myself calling up and ordering "The Mocha Butt Fleshlight, with the Speed Bump and the Wonder Wave inserts. And oh yeah, I'd like to get that Years supply of lube also." :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

But each to his own.:thumbsup

pstation 05-05-2006 12:29 PM

the phone problem is partially solved by having a seperate # for pages coming from affiliates and having something like..."1-800-555-1212, please mention code 12345"

I agree, and you will see these changes, as well as many others i've gathered.

thanks for all your input keep them coming

:)

dial 05-05-2006 12:35 PM

jesus, now I am thinking about this shit even harder

so, if someone clicks a link 6 months ago and doesn't pay it attention, but then I sell the fuck out of an affiliate and close that bitch, they click my link and it won't make a BIT OF DIFFERENCE, because they clicked a link 6 MONTHS AGO from some shitty tgp

I am all for a nice time frame for cookies, but jesus you all, a month is fine, not a freaking lifetime!

That would solve the whole problem. It can't be that hard to add into the system.

And I do agree with dial on the cookie problem. There are affialiates that are getting sales even though the sale didn't come from their site. Its like a password trading site that no one really likes anyway puts up a small hot pic of a girl. Then a surfer will click it to see the large version. Now they have their cookie. And then when that surfer goes to a site that is honestly trying to sell Flesh Lights, well they'll get fucked on it.

the cookie madness has GOT TO stop....I personally think that a 30 day cookie is just fine, these year cookies that don't get overwritten are TOTAL overkill

If I try and sell someone a site and they don't buy, but someone a month later is able to make the sale from their pages, I have no troubles handing that sale off to the next person, because I wasn't able to close that sale

when you go to buy a car and end up loving the car, but the salesman sucks and move onto the next dealership, the next salesman is WAY better and tried so much harder to close the sale and did it in a way that you couldn't resist, does that first salesman that sucked get credit for the sale? i think not

unless fleshlight has it set up differently, a new cookie would overwrite the old one. so the last click wins.

Mutt 05-05-2006 12:53 PM

calm down Francis - cookies, lifetime or otherwise, usually don't work that way - it's the most recent affiliate who gets credit - and if Fleshlight isn't set up like that then yeah it's useless. theHun could put a hidden frame and cookie half the Internet with his affiliate ID if that was the case.

Juilan 05-05-2006 01:33 PM

Always thought most recent cookie wins...

davethetruth 05-05-2006 04:32 PM

This thread is wack.

The point is, that if someone goes to fleshlight.com through your link, then calls in an order the affiliate doesn't get credit. People LOVE to call in orders.

The online biz is a learning experience and I think they should learn from this thread, that that's not the best way to have their site if they're going to push the affiliate program so hard.

dial 05-05-2006 04:33 PM

wow, and still NOT ONE response from Ramos about the one year cookie shit

The customer support number is something that we had implemented for customers (mostly word of mouth customers via type in traffic ) who are insecure about placing orders via credit card on the net (yes, they are still out there). The % of calls that lead to a sale is very low.

The chances of a surfer that you bring to the site, actually leading into a phone sale....is like TDF getting accepted by the black race.

chances are slim.

Besides who would call in an order for a sex product :1orglaugh "Hey Man, my mr. limpy isn't keeping wood" :1orglaugh

then why put an order number ? put a support number and tell them all orders must be placed over the internet...

No offense but if your going to say " chances are slim " you should post actual phone orders %.

What is the % of orders you do over the phone out of curiosity..
