I can better that one. I had an 8th grade math teacher, Mr. Gay. He was single, and then he got married. You will not believe this, but it's absolutely true.... his wife was Shirley Gay. Worse yet, she was a school principal. I can just imagine the comments made at her school; at mine, we went around going "Cliff's wife is Shirley Gay" all the time. In 8th grade (in 1974) this was very funny.

BTW, my two favorite, rather obscure (at least in the US) gay terms:

Poofter (mostly British/Australian, but I love using it)
"Friend of Dorothy" (very dated, from the 40s)

When our models show up, many of them are from the midwest and not totally comfortable with their "gayness"... some are shocked at my casual use of "Oh, he's a fag" or, after one of them says something really "faggy", I'll just say "Fag." back. Sometimes they think I'm seriously insulting them.... it's really odd.

No I use that one too much, it sort of rolls off the tongue. No offense to all of my gay/lesbian/transexual/transgendered friends out there.
