Would an adult webmaster site like this be usefull/succesfull?
 

Reading all the drama threads on this forum got me thinking.

I'm thinking of making a simple site where webmasters can create their own profiles. After registration, webmasters can vote (positive or negative) for other webmasters and (optionally) leave feedback. This way, each webmaster gets a score. The higher this score, the more reliable the person is. Kinda like the feedback system on eBay. If you then want to make a deal with a client that doesn't know you, you can point to the site where the client can see what kind of person you are.

Additionally, there would be a way to "show off" your score, for example, by using a small image in your signature on forums. Also, there would be some way to identify unreliable people that don't want to register on the site (cheaters and such).

What do you think of this idea?

maybe adding features like "pays on time", "delivers on time" ...

Don't know if it would be useful/successful, but I do think you'll see half a dozen pop up by tomorrow.

the downside is, is that you'll always have people trying to rip off the competition by giving them low votes etc...

Hehe, that would be good too. I just think it would be nice if there was such a site :)

Let me tell you what I think of this idea: Not much. It's not your fault though. The problem lies in the system. Webmasters have no idea what board figure is "reliable" or not. How would they? They go by photos from shows, by post count and the amount of "Wow br0 thats great :thumbsup " posts. If you post those 10 times a day in the generic "How do you like my new XYZ" threads then you're already in the "cool & extremely reliable" book for 99% of the sheep here.

The fact is: Some webmasters do not like the truth. They like to hear fiction that supports the many misconceptions in their heads. Taking their heads and slamming it on the surface of reality doesn't earn you a lot of friends.

This sounds similar to the Recommendations you can give about other webmasters on the YNOT system

Maybe a lot of webmasters act like 'sheep' because there is no site like this available (that provides information about webmaster reliability). But you're right in a way, there will always be misinformed people that don't care about the truth.

Who is this Labret you speak of and what happened to him? I can only find old threads about people missing him.
