For a minute i thought the good old PayPal affiliate
program was playing tricks..

x.com used to be another site, they merged with paypal.com.. that was before Paypal was really big. They were still US only and only used on a few ebay auctions.

x.com used to be a bank. When did they merge with Paypal?

I don't remember the exact date, you can probably find it on Google.. but it was 2 or 3 months before they expanded to Canada, thats all I remember.

damn! That's way old news! I don;t remember hearing about it.... but then, if paypal was still a struggling chicken, probly would have gone unnoticed.....

Back then, Paypal was only known to eBayers.. and even then, only like 1/5th of the auctions accepted Paypal payments.. but I used to buy shit on ebay, so I remember hearing about it

yeah, I used to buy and sell some shit on ebay back in '99..... and still made some purchases as recently as early last year.... but never used Paypal until late last year....

but I do remember when X.com first launched their site..... was a big deal getting the single letter domain back then with the massive dotbomb boom and all....

Its pretty funny how everyone thought that people would all of a sudden do all of their shopping and such online.. some of the stupidest sites ever popping up, finding some investors, never making a dime but convincing people this was the 'wave of the future'.. hehe.

I'm sure the tech/internet markets will be strong again in no time, but I think they over-estimated how much people would use the internet for their day to day stuff by just a bit :glugglug

No more of that either, since Microsoft is dumping RealNames from IE in a month and a half or so...
