Dell laptops overheating?

I've got this Inspiron 8600, where the heat starts right on the left-hand bottom corner where the soundcard is, but travels throughout the keyboard, up to the top of the laptop. The power button is silver metal on this model, and it's boiling hot as well. The plate covering the power button, sound controls, etc are also boiling hot. Left bottomhand corner of the screen is hot also. Has anyone else experience something like this? The fan's clean, I took it out and cleaned it myself and it's operational. My girlfriend's laptop is just as bad as this one, and she's got a 5100. I'm getting really pissed with Dell.

I heard they get warm but never boiling hot..I would get it checked out before you fry the fucker

Bring it to service.. :)

It could be the power supply.. If the voltage is unstable or low you might have that problem.. My friend had the same problem.. Good luck :)

Thanks folks. :) Appreciate the input. I might pull 'er apart later and see what's going on, maybe there's a fan on the side in question that's broken or dirty.

it is probably a design thing to do with heat dissipation , laptops are small and cramped with fuck all ventilation holes , so by spreading the heat out , you get a bigger contact area for the cold air to reach the heat and cool the inside down

biftek,

I'd agree. What's shitty even more is I bought one of those laptop cooling mats, with two fans on it, etc. and it's not helping worth jack. Just heating the fans up haha.

I have an i8600 just like that but never experience that kind of heat. I run this little utility in my system tray all the time too though.. it might be why.
