when you message someone on icq and they go to away
 

it makes me laugh.....if you cant handle your business...dont be in business.


got something to say? back it up..if someone contacts you over something you said or someone in your company has said...why run away?


it shows a weak hand in my opinion....and ill keep the name to myself..but it has been noted...and i expect to see them crumble in the next few years

maybe what matters to you doesn't matter to them and they just forgot?

perhaps...but it was something that was immediate was no forgetting this matter

Did they go away because you were talking to them, or did they go away because they actually went away? I see that sometimes. I send a message and twenty minutes later they're "Away" but I sent my message a minute or two after they left...so they just missed my message.

If they did just put it on away to avoid you, yeah, that's weak.

I am almost always away and you just have to leave a message, my trillian is set to auto-away after 10 minutes

I don't think it's the person running away, I think it's the ICQ servers not updating people's "status" - especially the status of an idle client that has clicked on "away" because of the screen saver. When you send a message and the other uses is idle, the new message triggers the status change

yes could very well be that...but i think i am right in this matter...as it was something the person most likely didnt want to deal with

My fave is when my status say's "I'm away please leave a message or email me (enter clickable email address here)" then I get messages like:
"Hey.. u there????

You there??

???????????? "

lol, I might ask ONCE if they're there, just because they may be, but if they don't answer, I do assume they're not really there and wait for a response.

I've been in the middle of a biz convo and had this happen, to never hear from the person again. I took it personally and hold this grudge unless that person makes it up to me.

it's their problems - they lost you as a partner! :)

maybe you actually caught them as the system went into away or as they were marking away to leave & didn thave time to read your msg? ;)
