They just said on CNN that "child porn is a multi-billion dollar industry". That can't be true.

That is very fucked if it is true.

The only time i ever saw any was in a spam email and i directly reported it the the authorities but thats the only time ive ever come accross any in 8 years surfing.

They said billions. I hit rewind to hear it agian and make sure. One thing about the media they love to avoid is the other side. I've yet to hear them talk about what the adult industry does to stop CP. They only mention what the Feds are doing.

I may have seen one or two sites, but they were taken down pretty quickly by the ASACP.

Think of how they would get the money. Can they put in an address to send a check, use CCBILL, or Paypal? I don't think so.

Next think about the actual logistics of it. 1000 sites taking 1 million dollars a year. Or is it being sold via shops? Maybe it's blokes meeting in the pub and passing it under the table. :winkwink:

Now think of the production needed to supply a multi billion dollar industry. It's not tough to find 18 year olds, you just put an ad in the paper. How do you supply the content?

I heard a number of different reports on this. They supposedly are all over in websites, forums, p2p, and so on. My guess if they were making that much, is the memberships or cost are insane because of the increased risk.

A few reports said that you would see a site, and not know it's CP unless you are in this underground. On the outside, they look like a normal porn site. But the underground people supposedly know that the backend's the CP stuff. Or that it's hidden.

They also said they are trying to go after the processors for credit cards on these sites because that's the easiest way to get rid of them.

Regardless, it's disgusting.

As for the thing about slave prostitutes, yes it happens. However it's very small. There are plent of girls willing to do it for the money without being forced. Look at this figure, Industrialised countries: $67,200 and ask yourself how many girls would do it for that money? And that's a forced one working underground.

The truth is to sell big time you have to be legit, you lose money if it's illegal because you're for ever watching your back. Drugs is a big industry, but how big compared to booze or cigarettes? Legal drugs.

I watched a program in Holland that is called: "Undercover in Nederland/Holland" This guy went undercover to buy CP videos and it is soooooooooo fucking easy to get them in the underground so it is possible that worldwide it is a billion dollar industry.

This guy also went undercover with his hidden cam to watch kids work as prostitutes in Holland and it is sick to see how many work there and how easy it is to get in touch with pimps or the guys themself.
