TGPs selling spots need to change their business model soon? [warning biz thread!]

It's impossible to turn a profit buying TGP spots nowadays with 2003 prices and 2006 traffic quality, (both as a sponsor or as an affiliate)

This is just my guess, but i believe TGPs should be getting less and less webmasters buying spots each month, and soon they'll have to adjust their pricing to a more realistic number or lose their clients completely.

So maybe TGPs selling spots sooner or later will have to do something like this,if you sell spots at $1000/month and get 10 clients, why not sell at $500 and get 30 sold spots of recurring clients instead? you make more money, the client makes at least some roi, everyone is happy :)

thoughts? am i completely wrong here?

sounds nice...makes sense, im working on my first tgp right now so thanks for the info

MrKnowItAll 05-03-2006 06:11 PM

if they wouldnt sell their spots, I am pretty sure they would lower prices, unless they make more money themselves on them

Theres a model for this that you're completely overlooking. I'd tell what it is but I'd have to....

Well you get the idea.

Kinda useless for you ... you'll probably never get to sell a spot for more then 15 bucks ;)

Supply = Demand, No Demand, No Supply...or just prices to increase demand.

I wouldn't say its impossible. In fact, quite the opposite.

hmmm dunno, 100% FHG? they get some sales, but never more than selling the spot.

Harder these days for the average affiliate. Program owners it is a different story.

I've had one of the most expensive tgp spots on the market for free because of a business trade for months (at least 6, dunno) tried several sponsors, never covered 60% of the spot price.

Also bought at two other well known tgps, same resluts.

Your theory is wrong because the demand is so strong combined with the amount of webmasters willing to try it, that extends the life of the business model.

SleazyDream 05-03-2006 06:40 PM

i'm usually sold out and my business model is to only sell out 80%

i should raise my prices

ok, but how long until everyone realizes it's a waste of money?
is there a constant supply?

Never tried your site or selling hardcore, but you being the only TGP owner that replied to this thread might be a good signal.

Fabien 05-03-2006 07:27 PM

Fucking waste of money.
With today's ratios ? Get real people. Yeah maybe in 96 when i started but not now.
Why the hell do you think we sell our spots hahahahahahahahaha
Up yours buddies

defresto 05-03-2006 07:29 PM

It not that much about price.
Lots of people know how to make $ from paid spots.
Quantity and how easy it is to buy that what matters.
Quality is great, but if you get 1000 quality hits a day...

Maybe its the site or product you're selling?
