I never thought I'd ever say this in a million years...

But I think I'm truely ADDICTED to HIKING. Yes hiking.. For the past several days I've been going every morning super early to a lake near my house and going through the trails and all that "outdoorsy stuff" that I hate for 2 hours.

And now, all day I've been watching the clock waiting to get a good 10 hours in so I can go again today.

I think I have completely lost it now! And my dog has cried all day sitting by his leash cuz he wants to go so bad too. I hope it's just a phase that will pass. Maybe I'm just like this cuz we're having sunshine for the first time in 9 months.

Anyone else hike?

american pervert 05-02-2006 05:56 PM

Hiking is fun, especially in WA!

There's some good hikes around here, but I'm more interested in going off-roading now.

Spunky 05-02-2006 06:05 PM

Well I must confess that I check my email at least twice during that two hours from my treo... haha

But yeah smokey. I love it.. just wandering around, wandering around. It's easy to lose a couple hours. You should see some of the hot ass tree hugging bikers and joggers that I've run into as well. Makes it even better :thumbsup

webgirl, I've never really been OUTSIDE doing anything like this up in Vancouver but I imagin it's breathtaking. I just read this huge article written by the guy who is the head of parks and rec in San Diego and he said that of every city in the state of Washington, that the town I live it has the MOST protected lands and forests. It's just gorgeous out there. I'm so lucky.. it kills me sometimes that I never appreciated it before.

I'm really gonna take heat when I run into some of my friends that I regularly make fun of about their outdoorsy granolaness.

I still refuse to camp though. No way..

i'm REALLY trying to picture this one..... :winkwink:

arock10 05-02-2006 06:26 PM

Well, the first thing I thought you were going to say you are gay.
Second until they have wireless everywhere, fuck that shit yo. But seriously, I've done some backpacking. I'm more about the rock climbing though, hiking doesn't give the required adrenaline rush I require in everything I do (except of course siting in front of the computer for 20hrs a day)

If you are in the WNY area, go to Letchworth State Park.

Absolutely gorgeous there ...

Zebra 05-03-2006 09:41 AM

I live in Oklahoma. It's flat. Very flat. Hiking here is only walking.
Sometimes I find a speedbump or pothole and get to experience the thrill of hiking for a few seconds.

Love Sex 05-03-2006 10:03 AM

i like to hike up my girlfriends skirt

KRL 05-03-2006 10:43 AM

I hit a local hiking trail park and try to get in at least a couple miles of walking per day. Its extremely good way to stay in shape.

Cyndalie 05-03-2006 10:58 AM

Manowar 05-03-2006 11:08 AM

hiking is actually a lot of fun

Elli 05-03-2006 11:18 AM

I love it, but I don't like going alone. I don't have a big dog and the whole "girl alone in the woods" scenario freaks me out a bit. I wish I had a friend who was into it and would go with me, but all my friends are wimps who would rather drink at the bar than go outside. Camping to them is just drinking in the woods. sigh.

fuzebox 05-03-2006 11:20 AM

It's been a while since I've gone for a good hike... Although I used to do the Grouse Grind a couple times a week (Vancouverites will know what I mean).

Tom_PM 05-03-2006 11:21 AM

That sounds great :) Before you know it, you'll be bringing fishing tackle. Dont say you wont! It's the perfect thing to bring on a hike to a lake.

Two things:
1) I like hiking, it's great.
2) Never say never :)

Thomas1007 05-03-2006 11:43 AM

Doctor Dre 05-03-2006 12:04 PM

Make sure you know how to take the hard grips because you can hurt yourself really bad.

sickkittens 05-03-2006 12:05 PM

I like it but get pretty bored fairly quickly so it usually doesn't happen. :(

yeah it's sad whenever I pass a girl on a hiking/walking trail I usually don't even say hi or look at them anymore as the few times I've done it most give me that "please don't be a serial killer!" look. :Oh crap When I bring my young son or even my dog with me however they are nearly always friendly. :error

CamJack 05-03-2006 12:12 PM

Rrred you not with Partypoker anymore?

WebairGerard 05-03-2006 12:14 PM

love it. great for you and mentally does wonders. clears your head. Many state or local parks even in urban areas have good hiking or walking trails. Central Park is great to do some serious walking, beautiful place. Adirondack mountains in upstate NY is a natural wonderland with some of the best hiking you will ever see. Enjoy it!

quiet 05-03-2006 12:16 PM

i hike every single day in the summer, and have for a couple of years now. and in the winter i do a good bit of off-piste hiking to get to the sweet stuff as well.

Babagirls 05-03-2006 12:17 PM

i went to a State Park last summer, took the bf on a hiking trail. there were trails that was 1.5, 2.3 and 4.2 miles long. we did the 4.2 mile one. had a GREAT time doing it, felt fuckin GREAT afterwards too.

the next day, we couldnt move a muscle and i had blisters on my feet so i couldnt walk. learned my lesson to start off slow. BUT i DID love it!! so peaceful, awesome to see nature in its glory, no cell phone, no computer, no work...just peace and fuckin quiet. in a world that is so noisy, its nice to have peace sometimes.

the only thing keeping me from going every week is that its 40 miles (20 miles each way) to get there. and with gas prices hoovering around the $3 mark, i'll wait till its lower. (hopefully it lowers.)

Marshal 05-03-2006 12:18 PM

i'm addicted to sleeping... :D
