Web Tech Ppl: How do these sites make it where there video's can't be downloaded?

I'm building a New Site. I want to display my Music Video's on it but not allow downloads. I see LOT'S of sites around the net have it where you can't download there video's. When viewing the video's it pops up in a little extra window.
How do they do that?

Here's a couple sites that does this:
http://www.muzikmedia.com/videotop.aspx#mv379
www.launch.com

Even when you let them play. It doesn't even get caught in the cache/Temp folders...

Anyone know how they do this? I know any media coming across the web is downloadable. But they doing something quite clever to hide the file... Any tuts or anyone know how they doing this?

They begin with mms: instead of http: I dont think its a format, just a streaming method. I could google MMS but I'm feeling lazy and this should be enough help.

It's pretty hard to prevent anyone being able to download your videos.

It depends on how much trouble as in time and expense you want to go to and how determined the surfer is.

I'm a bit rusty in online video stuff but that first site uses mms which I believe is a windows media server protocol. That would be able to be captured quite easily with a number of programs out there. But they also go one step further and redirect anyone pulling up the mms stream directly by redirecting them back to the video page.

Other people use flash to embed the video but again there are programs to save flash video files.

Doing anything except linking directly to the video file (like at least putting it in a popup and disabling right click etc) should be enough to put off most people from downloading.

Try those basic steps first and see how much that helps and whether you have to do anything more.

@Ozman, thnx bro! From your tips I got exactly what I wanted.. Thnx for the lead...

@Kapai, well of course... You know of the web... But the audience for my newst site not really web-savvy so it'll be hid from them quite well...
