Ahhhhhh. No, Im not a smoker, you can do it Fat. =P |
Ugh! That's rough. I just quit drinkin' a little over 6 months ago & that was a bitch! I';ve heard that it's harder to quit smoking. That's my next task, but not lookin' forward to it at all!

Apparently it starts to get easier after a week and once you are past 4 weeks you start to wonder why you ever smoked at all. I am sending you good vibes down my broadband line and into your fingertips. Good luck FATpad. |
I just quit not long back. My secret weapon...Copenhagen! Whenever I wanted to smoke, I just chewed some Copenhagen. That shit is so nasty, but I got my nic fix. Before long, wanting a smoke felt like a punishment so I am completely smoke free now. It's been almost 2 months now.
|
I went from 3 packs a day to ZERO on March 28, 1997 and havent had a cigarette since! Or cigar for that matter!
|
I smoked Kool menthols for years and stopped cold turkey as well... just remember it takes 21 days to make or break a habit.
|
Congratulations Fat.
Hang in there. If you can last 5 days you can last forever! I went from 30 a day to 0 about 18 months ago and have never looked back. I used to have mild asthma.. after quitting my lung capacity increased threefold. Life is so much better, cleaner, healthier, nicer smelling now. |
how about some cigars?

Good Luck wife and I both quit 29 days ago (after30 years for me 14 for her) we are going to make it you can too!
ps....If this time dosent work keep trying, it IS worth it. |
Good For You....I know what you are going through.
It has been 2 weeks since I stopped cold turkey. No cravings...okay just a couple after a drink but otherwise nothing. After the first two days it is all mental. The pyhical dependency on the nicotine is gone. Keep it up...food will soon taste soo much better :-) |
Good for you man!
I'll tell ya what helped me quit... I would carry my little friend *doug* with me and every time I craved *doug* would save the day. No more cigs for me, but I've developed a serious herb habit. LOL :rasta Stick it through, you'll be glad you did. Love, -Roxxy |
Just keep telling yourself you will smoke tomorrow, but not today.
Thats what I did and went from 2 packs/day to nada for the last 15 years. First 10 years were tough though. :) |
I am VERY PROUD of YOU! :thumbsup
|
I used to smoke 2 packs a day and my old man used to smoke 4 packs a day... after seeing him have a heartattack and all the misery that followed with bypass surgery i quit cold turkey and of course he did too.
Been over 1 year since i had a smokey. |
I quit for three months (once upon a time). For three months all I could think about was cigarettes. Every waking moment was spent thinking about cigarettes. In my sleep I dreamed about cigarettes. I would dream about smoking these giant sized cigarettes.
I might have toughed it out if a good friend of mine had not returned to smoking after being a non smoker for eighteen months. He had quit and begin to advise me how easy it was for him to quit. He told me that once he got past ten days he didn't want a cigarette anymore. When I asked him why he started smoking again he told me that he had been lying to me. He told me that for eighteen months he actually had been miserable. Since I was extemely miserable (having been off for three months) I decided to end my misery then and there. At the time I had been smoking for about thirty years. I now have been smoking for about fifty years. I began smoking when I went to Korea. Cigarettes were issued with C-Rats and I would say that over 90% of the guys in my unit smoked. What the hell you did not know from one moment to the next if you would be alive. Have I payed a consequence? Yes, and cigarettes will probably be the cause of my death, but I am old anyhow. I smoke about three packs per day. |
Man quitting for me was freakin' brutal...I smoked for around 5 years and it took me almost as long to quit completely.
Looking back now it's hard to believe that I ever smoked at all :thumbsup |
Yo Adrian:
How long has it been since you have completely quit? |
I quit smoking about a year ago and must say that it was one
of the best things I have done. YouŽll feel great in 2 weeks FATPad. Just start to workout a bit or that chocolate is going to give you a hard time ;) |
well?
still smoke free bud? :smokin |
Day 6. :thumbsup

Thanks...little late though...once you've started and have to stop, you can't not start. Actually if you never start, you can't stop since there is nothing to stop. |
