Do you need to drink or get high to have a good time?
 

I'm getting sick of all the threads about people who HAVE to drink or get high to have a good time, it's like they define having a good time by the fact that they got drunk or high.


I don't mind getting drunk - but it doesnt happen often. a few times a year at best.

I do go out and have a GREAT time often though.


Is there anyone else here who doesn't need to drink or get high to have a good time.


And tell what you do!!!!

I think it's more of a everything-seems-more-exciting-and-fun effect on the user of said substances.

I have a natural high but sometimes i pop a few extra meds for anxoiety that keep me in a happy zone

Get together with a few gfriends and get in disguise for midnight heists.

We havent got arrested yet so I think we are doing good so far.

There's things to do to have a great time during the day and there's things to do at night for a great time... its nice to unwind at night with a beer, bowl, line, pill, tab, or injection of some sort.

People shouldn't have to be fucked up to have a good time, but it sure doesn't hurt.

Best thing I know is watching NHL and drinkin a few beers (not enough to get drunk).

And by beer I dont mean corona, miller or any other shitty girlbeer.

no dont have to drink or the other to have a good time its really a perception of how you are feeling on the inside, some people need alcohol or a chemical to do this other people dont :thumbsup

I don't need to drink or get high to have a good time. I need to be in great company to have a good time.

People who drink and get high can be a blast when it's under control, but the fact is, I worry about how they'll get home - if I leave before them, is there someone responsible enough to take care of them - will they make a fool of themselves or cause a scene......that kind of stuff. I worry if it's people I care about and am responsibly worried for acquaintances too.

I had a close friend pass away from a crazy night out, feeling sick and choking on his vomit so I'm truly not interested in reliving that again.

Dinners, lounges, even clubs are a good enough time for me - nothing too wild & crazy - been there, done that & sent out postcards. I guess it's a sign I'm getting old. :1orglaugh

Yup I don't drink, smoke or do drugs and always have a great time when I go out, be it local pub, bar or whatnot. I gotta agree with others but, going out with fantastic company can make or break the night.

When out partying sober you can still do what everyone else does, dance, mingle, mosh in the pit at as a pub band plays, etc etc.

You also get an interesting perspective of people when your sober. And most times I end up being the designated drive for all the piss heads on the way home and let me tell you having a packed car of drunks going from A to B, it pure entertainment right there in it's self. :)

I do drugs.

But I do them, they do NOT do me.

If around I am into it, if not I am not.

Can go without quite easily.

The best times are woth people you love and without anything except the energy and life that surrounds you.

I'm with ya and totally agree. I don't hate on people that don't party so I don't think anyone should hate on me for partying it up.

And I do remember some really awesome times when I was completly sober as can be. Either way, as long as good peeps are around you can't not have a good time.

I don't require either to have a good time. I'm able to do so with, or without alcohol/drugs.

I don't get high but I cant stand drunk people unless I'm drinking so I join in if thats whats going on. Booz also makes people you dislike easier to like.

Stopped doing drugs many years ago, and drinking for me rarely crosses into "drunk" these days. A glass or two of wine or a handful of beers is one thing. But I was a bartender for years, and drunks are idiots, by and large, and I don't like being around them. Nor do I like waking up in the morning knowing I was one of them. Been there, done that.

I can have a great time, just being me, with no additives. :)

Shopping makes me high, i dont even have to BUY anything, just being in that environment and just trying things on make me feel exhilerated and make my adrenaline flow. I like clothes, all kinds, cheap and expensive. Expensive is better tho.

So is looking at shoes. I really like shoes. All kinds of shoes, from low/mid-priced like Steve Maddens all the way to expensive Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos. I just like to hold them and touch them, just like i imagine a man wants to hold or touch a womans breasts or thigh.

It makes me feel alive and as if anything in the world is possible and as if I can achieve anything I put my mind too and as if there is nothing i cant do or nothing i cant conquer, and makes me want to be more successful and strive for more..

Its much more potent than drugs, its exquisite and undescribable, kind of like an orgasm.

As ironic as it sounds, I can't relax and have a good time with others unless I'm well rested. There's nothing I hate more then being around other people when I'm running on little sleep. Can't think clearly, don't say much, just end up sitting/standing there like an idiot.

I've been sober for 7 years-- my drinking got me 28 days in a treatment program. But that doesn't stop me from trying to keep up with Toyboy for a few hours at a time. :-)

I just stopped drinking and its hard what can I do to kill the I need to drink vibes??? smart ass comments are welcomed because they are just going to come anyways LOL bring it

I do HATE people that give someone who does not srink or do drugs a hard time or tries to pressure them - I will ALWAYS bite if I see that shit.

Each to their own as long as they DON'T change and don't hurt anyone.

And respect is a two-way street.

My reality isn't bad enough to need a drink or a hit to escape. When I do sit back and have a drink or 2, it's a social drink with people doing the same. Regardless, I don't need to do anything to make myself feel better. My reality is great. :)
