How do I find out that my paysites passwords are shared on password sites?

Hello,
how do you usually search if your paysites have compromised username/password data illegaly shared on password sites or some boards?

madawgz 04-29-2006 01:34 PM

just do a search on google

*members.yoursite.com*

If you have more unique visitors to your members' section than you have visitors, that would be one sign. :D

Password Sentry or Strongbox are deterents

andrej_NDC 04-29-2006 02:00 PM

get proxypass or some other soft and dont care about the few passwords still beeing shared, its not worth the time, hosting is cheap

I have strongbox installed, it does good job, but it seems like some of the passwords are compromised and i wanna find where they are posted or so. If it was 1 password, i would still mind it as i don't like when somebody steals from me...

adonthenet 04-29-2006 02:47 PM

Tabitha's Toybox 04-29-2006 03:27 PM

check your referral stats?

aico 04-29-2006 03:31 PM

check your stats and look for links that have the username and password in them like http://username:[email protected]/members/
and where they came from

Garou 04-29-2006 03:41 PM

if u cant find them through se then almost noone can. All the rest is free promo (if ur content is copyrighted)

It would be very difficult to find one shared password this way, but if you're concerned about it being on a password sharing site, one way is to check with your feeds providers (if you use them) and see if there's been a sharp increase in usage. The provider should be able to see the spike almost instantly IF enough people are logging in.

If you have reason to suspect this is the case, I highly suggest you check with your providers anyways because you could get hit with a massive bill for each individual provider.

comstar 05-01-2006 11:40 AM

yeah search on the biggest SEs

DutchTeenCash 05-01-2006 11:43 AM

so how many are we talkin? cause 10 shared passwords cost less then the time you spend posting this n all
