Hurricane Season Starts Soon. Are Ya Ready?
Man, that Hurricane Katrina shit last year was like live drama and then some.
I recall one or two of you guys had companies there server-wise that had to practically fight for your lives. No telling if another big one hits us in the U.S. but it's worth being prepared for. Anyone learn anything from the last disaster? |
yeah i'm ready! i'm in the UK! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
cheers tony |
i live in montreal, dont remember any hurricanes :)

Well, Katrina wouldn't have been bad if the city of New Orleans was prepared for it. The hurricane itself was not too bad - sure structural damage like any other hurricane that blows through a major city... but the levees failing - that made Katrina historically 100x worse. Multiply that by another 10x because of FEMA's screwups. Multiply that by another 50x because of lack of leadership at both the local, state, and federal government level. Multiply that by another 10x because of media being slow as hell to report what was really happening in the Big Easy. All these mistakes made this 500000x times worse than it should have been.

I predict we'll see the first hurricane of the season out there in Mid May.
And no, you are never 'ready' for that shit. |

I remember waking and thinking, in a dream - look at the size of that fucking bird - it was next doors roof. :1orglaugh Its the sort of thing you look back and laugh at :pimp |
Katrina just showed what could happen here in the Tampa Bay area. Our county will be under water if one hits here and it scares the shit out of me. You can only prepare so much.
Never count on the government we all seen why last year. |
