Mexico Improves Tourism; Makes Drugs LEGAL!

Mexico has found a way to get more spring breakers and increase tourism...

"Mexico's Congress approved a bill Friday decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and heroin for personal use..."

http://abcnews.go.com/International/...ory?id=1902810

Gee, I wonder what their Congress is smoking?

Dagwolf 04-29-2006 11:21 AM

Yeah, I read that yesterday. It's a big slap in the face for the U.S. Being the most powerful country in the world doesn't make it all-powerful.

tucker 04-29-2006 11:23 AM

Unfotunately I think you are absolutely right. We in the US will learn that hard lesson over the next few years.

Spudstr 04-29-2006 11:29 AM

probably a smart move.

how do you get small amounts of drugs?

from large drugs!

whats illegal still? large amounts of drugs!

in essance they are louring in drugs and then seizing them.

kristin 04-29-2006 11:34 AM

They are actually reasonable quantities:

"The bill says criminal charges will no longer be brought for possession of up to 25 milligrams of heroin, five grams of marijuana (about one-fifth of an ounce, or about four joints), and half a gram of cocaine about half the standard street-size quantity, which is enough for several lines of the drug."

I don't know heroin at all, but the weed isn't too much. Here in Denver you can possess up to an ounce of weed.

Nice to see you Tucker. : )

As thousands of Americans sneak across the boarder to Mexico.... A large traffic jam at those tunnels.

The need for the border fense come clear!! It's to keep Americans from getting to the drugs!

MikeHawk 04-29-2006 12:00 PM

Well I guess Mexico could be smarter than the USA

There is no way in hell will we ever stop it!
Take away the profit business part of the drug world!
Taking away the profit takes away the "cash flow" and power....
Crime will go down i think, if its as easy as walking into a store to buy it if you of age.
Drugs, people will always use them illegal or legal...

Some of the smartest people of our time have debated this topic over the years and every time the solution is to "LEAGALIZE" ....

But it wont happen in this country, to many of our top level politicians are lineing there pockets with all that Cash....and its a ton. Our country would be so "Flush" with cash we would be able to pipe that in for all kinds of "positive education health programs" that keep getting cut because of no money now.

Think of it, Gang members will now have to go get regular jobs, and wont have the cash to buy fire power to do battle..... all the cars houses boats and other fine toys that have been bought with there profits of drug selling. They will now be FOR SALE.

Educate the children, just cause its legal similar to Booze, does it make it right to use it, show them what will happen if they do, similar if you walk accross the street without looking...your gonna get killed one way or the other.

I had my bought with addiction and beat it (up to to today, and every day its an every day thing being sober) , would not have mattered if it was available at the corner store or the scum bag selling it on the corner.

The way i see it all our crime and prisons are filled with drug addicts, living in there "own prisons" living one day at a time to "score"

Bravo Mexico!:2 cents:

Gee, I wonder what their Congress is smoking?

It may increase tourism to a degree, but doubt it is the aim of the proposed legislation since most folks don't snort crap or smoke bushes.

What they are adopting is something proposed by law enforcement in several countries and already passed into law in several countries as an effort to attack drugs trading from the top down.

Note that they still leave a judge to decide whether to impose sentencing whether drugs are in quantity or not - it's not exactly a free-for-all.

Wait till a few US citizens are thrown in jail and a "balance" will hit - the object is not to promote drugs, but attack the source and this is not some "offense" against the US, but dealing with a major problem which possibly will aid DEA in the US.

Sounds like their government is smoking "progressive shit" :winkwink:

WF Buckley, famous conservative, is all for legalization. His most cogent argument is that by making drugs illegal, politicians are putting American institutions at risk. The risk being corruption bought and paid for by drug lords. Legalization reduces the financial incentive.
