Raise the cigg tax by .50

see the great thing about taxing ciggs is....people will still buy just as many

its kinda like raising the price on a heroin stamp bag by .75

stickyfingerz 04-28-2006 09:41 PM

So ummm you think thats a bad idea? lol I think they should drop all the taxes on gas. State and federal. You guys will curse anything Bush does just to keep hating him. :1orglaugh

I'm pretty sure it was proposed by Democrats and it is the most ignorant shit I've ever heard. You think you can just chop out that much money without huge consequences?

Barefootsies 04-28-2006 09:45 PM

Actually I've heard that the taxes on gas is more like .43 cents a gallon. But I could be wrong. Everyone's math seems to be as mixed on this as anything involving the government.

No fear. They will find something else to tax in place of it.

:disgust

CheneyRumsfeld 04-28-2006 09:48 PM

they will legalize pot then tax the shit out of it

Yes less money spent on gas, means more money spent on other goods. Trickle down economics does work, and always has. The more the Government takes the less we can spend, and the less we all make. The more we make (as Im sure you know) The more taxes we pay in. Maybe I need to make you a flow chart or something.... Trust me the fookin government has more than enough to do what needs done. It just needs to cut all the pork, and all the unecessary social programs going on.

Our income is lowered by "Federal Income Taxes."

At least in California, I pay even MORE as "Self Employment Tax".

Then to top it off, state taxes. (Unless your in Nevada)

THEN, the ice on the cake - ANYTIME WE BUY ANYTHING at a store, its taxed.

They should take the extra tax off gas, AND LEARN HOW TO SPEND OUR MONEY BETTER. i.e. not starting unneeded multi-billion dollar wars.

I cant believe any of you idiots would be against them removing a tax.

Agreed with you till the end part. :winkwink:
There is many more things to cut before we cut our defense.

Btw move to TN no state tax here. Just tax on goods you buy at 8% or so.

JohanTheGreat 04-28-2006 10:17 PM

Cut the money that you give israel every year.
That will help the US back to its feet.

Oh dear fucking God. The proposal is to knock it off for 2 fucking months. That would be a big ass whoopity fucking doo in your pocket but a major dent to the money collected overall. You really think $3.20 / gallon to $3.02 is going to save you pain at the gas pumps? Helps nothing, hurts much. :1orglaugh

Supporting israel is like supporting terrorism and lots and lots of killing!

What would you say if scientologies would declare california as their own country? That would be fucked up wouldnt it? Same here... with israel.

You don't think that's a fair trade?

pornguy 04-28-2006 10:36 PM

I agree that cutting the tax all together is a major mistake. Lowering it would be a better idea. If they are getting .18 per gallon, then drop it to .15 for 6 months, and then to .12 6 months later, and so on until it is arounf .05 One way or another the government needs money to work on, and we have to pay it. They dont do it because it is fun.

lol! no.

I thought it was funny this week too when some mouthpiece got up on earth day and said in the last 10 years the US has cut emissions by blah blah blah percent. But failed to mention how Bush had reversed a lot of clintons clean air bill. Oh well. Thats politics for you.

Tom_PM 04-28-2006 10:39 PM

Iraq? Oh yeah, that place were something like $3 billion of the funds sent are missing.

JohanTheGreat 04-28-2006 10:42 PM

USA donated year 2005 over 2.5 billion US dollars to Israelhahaha180;s army.
Total amount donated year 2005 is far beyond the 2.5, there is a start!

You could remove tax on gas... :)

Dont get me wrong, im all for building up our military strength, so when a REAL threat arises we can kick their asses in a flash.

I'm talking about the extra costs of deploying the military for nothing.

America is getting bankrupted anyways... it will just happen faster ;)

Nathan 04-29-2006 12:14 AM

Does anyone here even know how much money cutting taxes on gas would actually be overall?

The US uses 9 MILLION barrels of motor gasoline each _DAY_.
The US uses 3.8 MILLION barrels of diesel fuel each _DAY_.
Plus another 1.7 MILLION in jet fuel daily. Which totals to about 15 million barrels total consumption DAILY by the transportation sector. Thats around 2.5 gallons per person, per day!
http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pe..._wpsup_k_w.htm

Thats around _DOUBLE_ the amount of other industrialized countries.
http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/p...ns_per_cap.htm

Maybe instead of cutting taxes on oil you guys should just invest in better technology so you can lower your consumption?

There is no such thing as "removing" a tax. Lost revenues will be made up for elsewhere. For instance, the budget cuts in federal money going to the states may look good on paper but my city responded by increasing everyone's property tax. In my case the assessed value of my property doubled what it was on the previous year's tax bill.:helpme
