MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Owning marijuana, cocaine and even heroin will no longer be a crime in Mexico if the drugs are carried in small amounts for personal use, under legislation passed by the Congress.

I think this already happens in other countries, as long as it's for personal use it's not a crime, not sure though.

Like this will change anything, nobody is gonna move to mexico just to use those drugs

no but ill damn sure be visiting there again.

this does two things for them: frees up resources to fight the drug DEALERS, not the users. then you've got the increase in tourism from people that wanna go get fucked up and not have to worry about getting arrested.

Those drugs have never been illegal in Mexcio in small amounts. Get this - if you get a Mexican doctor to write a note that states you're an addict, you're good to go.

I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing... Just thought it was pretty crazy! I realize that in some other countries, this is legal..

Probably will make many people want to visit Mexico more frequently!

Heroin not a crime. Crazy !!

Not saying its a good idea but something does have to change here in the states. Half of everyone in jail is in there for using drugs. There's got to be some kind of other solution. I mean... what, are all those people criminals? Going to jail for having/smoking pot? I'm not even a toker but I think that's rediculous.
