I hate to bring this up again but http://www.helpwinthisbet.com has just shot through the 6 mill barrier, 3 times what he hoped for and all within the space of a month or so.
Now I am pretty damn sure that there are a load of hitbots at work here but even so it's quite cool...

The point is that the site is stupid, there is NOTHING cool, unique or interesting about it...

If I created a website with a 1px x 1px gif image on it and I told you it was a really really cool link you just have to click it.. would you click it~ ? Proberbly not... But what if you heard about id through forums and you saw the counter rising by a few 1000 clicks per min... wouldn't you be tempted to click.. wouldn't you huh..?

For a novelty noncommercial site like that, pushing hits are fairly easy. Surfer forums would eat that up. Plus the list of usual traffic suspects:

community sites
groups
refer a friend
hell, even usenet
blogs
comments

I agree with Gene. I knew he would breeze through 2 million REAL hits when I saw people talking about his site on two unrelated forums.

Time to monetize then...

His counter is counting non-uniques. I jacked off on the refresh button and gave him a couple of hundred. If you refresh a couple of times, he is getting about two hundred hits a second. Nothing special about that. Any idiot can turn a script loose.

If anyone has any mainstream projects looking for traffic from the sources I listed, hit me up :thumbsup

Lol, I think your counter is broken. I tried refreshing your page every second, and everytime your counter increased by 200 - 500 hits. So unless, you're getting 34,560,000 hits per day, something isnt working right.

Just talked to your girlfriend ... If I hack the site and lower your counter she agreed to spend the weekend with MY girlfriend and I.
