I was in Vegas about six years ago and went to ride to coaster and they had it closed due to high winds. :(

Good thing cause once I got up there I said "No damn way" as I going to ride that thing. All I could think of was jumping the track and flying to my death on the Vegas Strip. :Oh crap

sickkittens 04-28-2006 07:07 AM

Here's the new ride.

I did the Big Shot, that was cool, I didn't do the roller coaster because I knew I wouldn't get much excitement from it.

As for the Cherry Picker, haven't done it yet but would like to. I use to live in Vegas and when it first came out it got two chicks stuck on there because of the wind there. So I was giving it more time to iron kinks out and I will never go on a windy day. And Vegas has quite a few windy days ...

Oh one more thing, I remember watching the news in Vegas or something about the Stratosphere and they said they had room for one more ride! I wonder how crazy that will be?

abadfish 04-28-2006 07:28 AM

I went up to the top one time with the intention of doing the rides and I bailed because I got scared. I am really afraid of heights!

The only ride I've done in Vegas is that roller coaster on top of the NewYork New York. It was the most terrifying few minutes of my life.

i thought about hitting that up last month but we figured it would take away from our drinking time

I was just in Vegas this weekend, and the mere act of watching those rides in action from the vantage point of that godforsaken hellhole Circus Circus made me queasy. I cannot imagine going anywhere near the top of the Stratosphere, much less on any of the rides. But then again, the only ride I would agree to go on while in Vegas involved Spongebob Squarepants, so perhaps I'm not the most adventurous person in the world...

I think those rides look scary.

cranki 04-28-2006 09:26 AM

they look kinda scary... and funnnnnnnnnnnn! :thumbsup

Freeglance 04-28-2006 09:28 AM

l leave today!

DaddyHalbucks 04-28-2006 09:35 AM

I did the one that blasts you straight up, the "Big Shot." The negative Gs you feel on the way down is very unsettling.

I'm not a fan of heights, so you'd never get me on those. But we did go up to the top in January and when we were on the one side of the tower it felt like it shaking when the X-Scream started.

I scurried* down shortly thereafter.

*Scurried-ran into the elevator screaming like a little girl.

:winkwink:

axelcat 04-28-2006 10:47 AM

I hear they are very scary, I have been up there before but never on the rides

OzMan 04-28-2006 11:13 AM

Unless you are real scared of heights, none of them are very scary but fun to try at least once.

The one that hangs over the building is ok if you are in the front seat, otherwise boring.

The cherry picker one is cool to be able to look straight down with 1000 or so feet to the ground, kinda like you were parachuting and it doesn't spin fast enough to make you dizzy.

The roller coaster isn't bad for such a small one, fairly jerky and it goes around three or four times to give you a longer ride, nowhere near as good as NYNY though, the main thrill is knowing you are up that high.

The best IMO is the big shot, just to feel those G's and the one second of weightlessness at the top where if you are short enough your butt will float a foot off the seat.

The funny thing about the big shot is if you go on it a second time. Like right after or even a few months later, your brain will remember the feeling and be prepared for it so it will seem lame and you will wonder if they made it slower or something. But if you give it a year or more and try again it will be just like the first time. (Sounds like sex :1orglaugh )

I have yet to try the rides at night, that should be better as things seem higher at night and you'll get a good view of the city lights. :)

yeah, me too ? of course, the rotating restaurant was really nice and more my speed :thumbsup

RhiannonAPM 04-28-2006 12:21 PM

Ya'll are crazy jusy going up there. That buliding is sinking a little everyday. They built that thing on a underground river and in a couple of years its going to fall and crush half of Vegas. I rather not go up there.

I haven't been on the new one, can't wait to go on it though. I did the roller coaster, boring and the other one that shoots you up in the air is fun the first time, boring the second time. The New York one, boring. The best roller coaster on the strip is the one that is kitty corner from the Stratosphere, it's the Roller Coaster at Sahara Hotel.

http://www.saharavegas.com/thrills/

That one kicks ass. But for some reason no one goes there and knows about it. They always talk about the New York New York and that one is nothing.

I love roller coasters. I will ride anyone of them. I don't care how fast, how high or how crazy. Bring it on baby!!! :thumbsup
