Do you put video previews on your paysite tours?
 

do they really increase sales, or do the freeloaders just suck up the bandwith?

Im a smaller site, but I have done it both ways. Last tour had free clips, the new one does not, and sales increased with new tour. Now, the increase could be because the designs better. I'm adding free video to it now to see if it make a differance with this newer design. But I think it really just sucks up bandwidth.

Yes I've used them. Yes they help sales. Especially if you do something differently that the competition in your niche. However, they are always being hotlinked, and freeloaders love them. Some coming back a few times a week to watch or just keep posting them all over the fucking place.

Nothing like seeing your bandwidth go to the moon on some freeloader, never buy, type board.

This happened to me a few weeks back. Some of the links did not work when I moved a page because of hotlinking. So I get an e-mail complaint from some shithead. I go in and fix them within and hour and over the course of the next week the same asshat posted the links on countless boards, forums, and blogs.

So I changed the links again, and blocked the sites. You have to love those shithead freeloaders.

the extra bandwidth is worth it. watermark your videos. they'll get saved, passed around, put on forums, p2p, etc. viral marketing.

is there a reality type of site out there that does not have trailers?

Trailers too, not just sample videos. There's a difference and I've seen some sites out there that don't know the difference.

I have great flash movies that play.. get compliments on them all the time.

I've found that sites with sample videos that advertise on our PPC search network tend to sell less because they're giving away more content and thus paying for more worthless clicks.

Thats total bullshit... we dont PPC.. we sell memberships, and trailers work magic.. try to sell w/o them and see what I mean:winkwink:

I'm just saying that in the area I work in I haven't found that it works. In the area of TGP's I'm sure they work great, but not necessarily on a PPC engine.

I think the more brodband spreads and the faster connections will get the market will more and more move to audiovisual content. therefore you will have to provide also more and more video previews.

I think trailers are really a no brainer. People don't watch movies if they have no idea what they'll be watching. The same is true for porn.

Trailers must excite the surfer, that's their main purpose... How to do this? Every niche has its own specifics. Try to find out what excites you and just do it in the trailer.
