I have always been into photography and now have a little more time in my hands so i am thinking of buying a new camera...does anyone own one of these? Any good?

The camera is OK but the lens is a piece of shit. :2 cents:

Canon Digital cameras have Nikon beat, hands down. You may want to take a look at a 20D or 30D instead.

I have one and I like it. I'll have to say that I might like the cannons a little better.

I have one. Im no pro but I learned how to use it with the manual and an instructional DVD. Now Im having a bit of fun with it. Seems great for a gateway SLR. Easy to use and I've learned alot with it.

I bought it today....but with a 17-200 lens...its amazing quality and zoom....just $400 for the lens alone....

I've got a D50. It's not bad. Came with a couple of lens.

I would go with canon instead...

Raffi, I have a D70 I don't use because I bought a D200 a while back Just pop a lens on there and you are ready to go. I don't have the manual - but I would take a few mintues to show you everything.

I will sell it for whatever "used" D70s are selling for on Ebay.

Let me know. I am local.

true, if you are just getting your start with a digital SLR go with canon before you invest in nikon lenses.

most pros are now moving to canon.

and the 5d is the best low light SLR now on the market, hands down.
