Do any of you guys lift weights and take protein supplements?
 
This protein stuff really works! I've been taking it for 2 months now and I've gained 15 pounds of muscle baby yeah!

2 years ago I tried Creatine and that wasn't good for much, but it wasn't until now that I decided to try just regular protein powder. I didn't think it would do much, but fuck was I wrong.

The ladies are gonna be lovin me this summer!

Even on roids you could'nt get those kinds of gains that fast! I believe that you have put on 15lbs but it ain't all muscle bro. But hey keep up the good work you will get there.

what kind of protein u taking? For the best gain, you should take 1 gram of protein for each pound of bodyweight....so if you weigh 180 pounds, you need 180 grams of protein every day(foods + supplements combined)
if your doing that, you can make some good gains

I worked at GNC for 4 years, so i know a bit about this stuff. if you have any questions, just post.

Yeah, I know its not 100% muscle. I don't care if I put on a little fat though, because I need a little extra meat on my bones. I was a bit skinny before, but now I'm not.

I go to GNC and look around, and then I walk across the street and buy the same shit for half the price at another store.

I do't blame you bro...GNC is overpriced...having worked there, I never buy my shit from GNC..cause I know its a ripoff....
They gave us a 25% employee discount though, so that wasent that bad....but for name brand third party products, their too expensive

Livedose have you gotten any side effects from taking Hydroxycut? Only things I have noticed is the increased energy level, reduction in appetite and loss of sleep if you take the supplement too late at night. Also I do notice if you eat any fatty foods while your on Hydroxcut your bowels will not be very nice to you :(

But I have to say it works like a charm. I dropped 8lbs in 1 1/2 weeks. With of course a decent diet and working out regularly... But when I came off it recently it was kind of harsh... I was taking 2 pills, 3x a day.

I don't trust many supplements besides protein. I don't want any of that chemical shit in me. Protein is a naturally occuring substance in nature so I trust it, but stuff like Hydroxycut or GHB15 or whatever that stuff is.....sounds like its full of chemicals and will fuck you up in the long-term.

I know people who have taken lots of supplements that were full of wierd chemicals and shit and now these guys are all fucked up. Their livers and kidneys are fucked and they are super sensitive to any chemicals they put into their bodies now. Even taking Aspirin makes them sick for days.

That scares me, I don't wanna end up like that, so I stick to whey protein.

i use tribulus and creatine in cycles. i always use protein powder, just to make sure i get a constant stream of protein throughout the day.

depending on how much meat you usually eat, i would consider amino acids as well.

You can get the brand names for cheap at those places.

Don't get caught up in the strange named supplements right now. Stick to the basics. Research and find the best proteins to take. The ones with a combination of casein & whey are better than the ones with just whey. You will see a lot with just whey (because it's the cheapest form to sell). Whey is great but it breaks down too fast. Whey and casien at the same time gets used by the body a lot more efficiently.

If you have all the basic supplements, protein, a good vitamin pack, some aminos, and maybe a good recovery drink along with eating well your gains should be steady for the next 6 months. After that time and ONLY after that time should you go to the extra supplements like ZMA or one of the Andros to break past the sticking points that you are gonna face.

I know here in austin we have a couple of places called DNC which is like a generic GNC - the prices are waaaay better....just a thought....when i was hitting it hard i was taking 2 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight with creatine for about 4 months while i was in the desert....not sure exactly how much muscle i gained but that was the biggest i ever got - i think when i left i was around 240-245 - now im about 215 (sigh) Getting back into tho =-)

I've been lucky and had only good experiences with HydroxyCut. The main thing for me was appetite surpression and then as soon as you see results it motivates you to eat healthier. Gotta drink a ton of water though... Been taking HydroxyCut for about a year and whey protein for many years.

The first week on HydroxyCut I dropped 5 lbs. and for the first time in a while I saw my ab definition again!

I got my Mom to try it and she got the shakes and leg cramping at night so she couldn't sleep and had to stop.

i've never really thought those so called 'recovery drinks' are worth a shit. if u get a constant stream of protein along with the necessary amount of vitamins and amino acids u should recover fine.

i'm thinkin about getting some stuff that strengthens ligaments. my squat and deadlift routine is pretty brutal. anyone have experience using anything like that?

I have many friends that take steroids and have for years. I also have a family friend who is a Lung doctor at one of the countries best specialist hospitals and he takes and agrees that they are safe if used properly.

As long as you know what you are doing it is safe.

The recovery drinks if used correctly do an entirely different thing. It's all about Glycogen & electrolyte replenishment. After working out, your body has a 45 minute window inwhich it can assimilate carbs and place them in the most needed parts of your body better than other times of the day. This is the time where you need to drink something even if it's just a Coke to put some carbs into your body. No protein, just carbs. A decent recovery drink uses maltodexterin as it's carb source. I would reccomend the best basic carb drink Ultra Fuel.

30 minutes to 1 hr after working out, it flips and your body is ready to take in and use about 30 to 40 grams of protein. Because of the quick uptake at this time, Whey is best since its the fastest & most efficiently absorbing protein around. Any other time go for the whey/casein mix.

taking them for longer than a year, even with cycles can be harmful. some ppl will react differently to them. there's tons of perscription drugs that are 10x worse than roids. but roids has some nasty side effects even if u don't overdo it. some ppl start on them and then do something stupid. they can't cycle off, or they start taking more when they don't get gains like they did before.
