Why you don't bet on sports??

Is the process of betting on sports too complicated?
Are you afraid that its not legal? (and you'll get caught)
Do you question how honest the bookie is?
You never bet on anything? (so it simply doesn't interest you)

What are your other reasons?

BlackCrayon 04-25-2006 07:14 AM

waste of money. if it was really worthwhile for the user there would be no billion dollar industry profit from it.

I don't want to ruin my chances of getting into the Hall of Fame.

Ross 04-25-2006 07:17 AM

I bet now and then but I'm not into it big time. I know too many people who loose BIG on betting. I also saw a woman in a bookmakers 4 weeks ago tell a guy she needed to win some money to pay her phone bill. She had like $75 and had to get it up to $140 or more to pay her bill. By luck she did. I could never imagine myself being like that!

headless ghost 04-25-2006 07:20 AM

the local bookie gives much better odds and payouts.
always did.

Barefootsies 04-25-2006 07:24 AM

Hmmm.. let's see...

-I do not follow sports
-Nor do I gamble. This includes lotto, scratch off's, lotteries, and the rest.

:disgust

For some yes a waste of money - for others they make an absolute living from gambling. Billion dollar industry - yes very true - also billions in payouts. Every business has to make money - or there is no business. Its no different than going to Vegas for a fun and some gambling on the side. :pimp

Sosa 04-25-2006 08:58 AM

i bet from time to time. My local place is going through some shit though since people ran off without paying. So I'm gonna have to signup to a new place.

for most, its a waste of money. its obvious more lose than win all the time, if you paid out what you brought in, that simply wouldn't work. i doubt even .5% of gamblers make a living off it besides people like yourself, bookies, etc. yes vegas is not much different, although at least you get a bit more than watching your tv at home hoping to god you don't lose your ass on your bet.

Doctor Dre 04-25-2006 12:19 PM

lol
The house got people on the payroll to tell them if the guy drank last night, when he takes a piss, eat and stuff like that... no way you can beat the house overall unless you're a half god.

Sarah_Jayne 04-25-2006 12:21 PM

I could just flush my money down the toilet instead.

baddog 04-25-2006 12:25 PM

I prefer to bet on things I have some control over.

madawgz 04-25-2006 12:35 PM

because i seem to loose all my money :(

SportsBook 04-25-2006 12:44 PM

Great feedback guys.

So do you see any distinction in betting on sports and lottery, slot machines, poker, or the other forms of gaming?

What is the worst and what is the best for ability to play, have fun and win?

Scott McD 04-25-2006 04:56 PM

I bet all the time.

I enjoy it. Sometimes i win, sometimes i lose. Shit happens.
I bet on soccer matches every weekend, plus a few other sports on odd ocassions.

Recently i've been addicted to playing the Roulette machine they have in the bookies...

Varius 04-25-2006 05:26 PM

I would love ot bet on some hockey, but none of the online sportsbooks I found deal in epassporte (some take deposits as it's a creditcard number, but none can withdraw to it that i found.)

If one of them did use ePassporte, then I'd probably make some bets on the Playoffs :)

Where are you located by the way Sportsbook (the IwantU crew is in Costa Rica too...)

CyberHustler 04-25-2006 05:55 PM

DaddyHalbucks 04-25-2006 05:57 PM

What advantage do I have?

thricer 04-25-2006 05:58 PM

I don't gamble anymore but when I did I took an old card players advice..."never bet on anything that shits." It was cards and dice only for me. The odds stay consistant.

Thunders 04-25-2006 06:06 PM

BAW sometimes is nice

iWeb_Iya 04-25-2006 06:27 PM

Betting is not my cup of tea... You bet! :upsidedow :upsidedow

reynold 04-25-2006 07:51 PM

I just don't like wasting my money on gambling. Isn't that reason enough?

mattz 04-25-2006 07:52 PM

Because I don't watch/follow sports at all

I will watch football once in awhile when the time comes though.

What are your other reasons?

1. Betting on anything is for losers.
2. Sports are the most boring fucking thing on Earth.

GTS Mark 04-25-2006 07:58 PM

I usually bet on the super bowls but not much else...

Why not? Just curious is there anything that would make you more interested in betting more often?

Spunky 04-27-2006 08:38 PM

Because I lose all the damn time!

50/50 chance win/loose

KRL 04-27-2006 09:31 PM

Gambling is a losing proposition except for the house.

The money is in booking the bets or running the casino skim.

:thumbsup :pimp

For the majority yes.. but there is the fun factor for many.
They play for fun - win or loose.

There is a limited number that make a damn good living gambling full time.

fuzebox 04-27-2006 09:58 PM

I don't follow any sports so never had an interest. I am an avid gambler however...

To be quite honest regarding the typical sports book margins - they are not as large as most people assume.

4Pics 04-27-2006 11:09 PM

add epassporte
