Whats the difference between transexuals and she-males?

Can anyone explain this to me? Not that I'm into that kinda thing, but I never have been able to figure out what the difference is.

Good grief. Don't they teach this in puberty school anymore?

transexual - someone who uses hormones and has had surgery to alter their sexuality from male to female or vice versa

shemale - someone who has had surgery to alter their appearance (breast implants) but retains the male sexual organs (penis)

I have a friend that has explaned this to me, I don't how many times transexual, shemale. I had no ideal he/she was not a woman (his girl friend) until he told me...
There's pre-opt, post-opt and like I said I can't remember..

Needless to say I was schocked when he told me... I thought he/she was a good looking lady... Oh well that's the Bay Aera of California..

He had told me about a web page his girl was doing.... I kept bugging him to see it.... So he finally told me the URL but also told me what his girl was..... Had to they were selling Used panty's of hers on the web page......:1orglaugh

She had some nice looking legs I thought until I found out, she use to be a he... I'd thought she was good looking.. I really couldn't tell she had been a he...

Well. Firstly, shemale is a term i have very rarely heard used outside of straight men looking at porn. It kind of ranks up there with ladyboy.

I have had a number of transgender friends through out the year. Not all male to female..I have known female to men transgender aswell.

As I have come to understand over the years things break down something like this:

Cross Dresser - Simply men who like to wear clothing considered by society to be for women. Often these men are straight..not gay or even bisexual (tho there is no hard fast rule on that..such is nature). Think of it like the husband that likes to sneakily wear his wife's panties now and then.

Intersex (often called hermaphrodites) - those who are naturally the possers of qualities (such as sex organs) that are characteristics of more than one gender.

Transvestites - those who live life with an appearance that society would see as appropriate for the opposite gender. However, they retain their male sexual organs. By the very deffiniton of being a transvestite these people do not want to 'chop it off' . Also, it is false to assume a transvestite male is gay. Infact most studies have shown that the majority are straight or sometimes bisexual.

Transexual: To put it blunt..this is where you are talking about 'the chop'. They no longer have penis but were born with one. If it is a male to female transexual we are talking about.

Sociology is my thing and I have done a lot of work in the 'alternative lifestyles' side of things. My obvious interest began with my own bisexuality but then grew to a fascination on how sexuality develops in different socities.

Perhaps the most important thing that i have learned is: sexuality and gender are two seperate things . Someone wanting to wear clothing not deamed correct for their gender does not mean they are gay. It also doesn't mean that they are straight.

Afterall, in some cultures men wear clothing that in North American culture would be considered a dress or a skirt. The kilt come to mind here? Yet, that doesn't automaticly turn their entire population into homosexuals.

Anyway, i will stop because i find this whole field so fascinating that i will just keep going on.

However, i will just end by saying that I long for a world where people don't have to preface a question born from curiosity with a phrase like 'not that i am into it or anything.'
