BigPlayers - converting bad

I wanted to give BigPlayers a decent try because $50 a signup would add up fast.
Conversion rates were real crappy for me. 1:2438 and I don't blindlink or anything.

I decided to e-mail 3 people who submitted a gallery using a BigPlayers ad, and basically asked what their conversions were like, do they submit to many tgps, and I asked if the sponsor they used before converted better.

All 3 replied with pretty much the same info:

1:2300
1:1980
1:3742

All 3 webmasters said they submit to at least 50 TGPs daily.

All 3 claimed their other sponsors are converting better with tgp traffic when using similar advertising methods.

On another thread at GFY, the "FLY" mentioned sending some traffic and getting jackshit in return.

Is BigPlayers shaving or their sites just don't convert very well?
I'm sure a few are going to reply saying they get 1:50 signup ratio then spam their referral code, but I'm looking for serious replies.

Is it doing well for you?

Just look at their sites....they suck ass!

Their tours are shitty. Their sites look like they are 2-3 years old.

Shitty content + Boring tours = No sales

I think I remember someone also posting that the signup cost to the customer was $49.99. That is a pretty hard one to sell....

Sure $19.99 or $29.99 a month but $49.99 is pretty steep. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

from what i see they offer a 3 day trial for 2.95, 1 week for 9.95 and a year for 99.95.I dont see a monthly option. Also if they say they pay $50 on trials shouldnt the webmaster be making money on such a cheap trial?

Wanted to post the same until I wrote your post.
They pay so much 'cause they charge 50$....

you know, people tried to warn you on the earlier thread

but you suckers will bend over and supply the KY if anyone whispers $50/sale

Terenzo 05-11-2002 10:00 AM

get into a deal that sounds realistic ... and you will make decent money ... how much money would *you* be willing to pay for a trial signup to your paysite???

I haven't used Big Players so I can't speak to their conversions, etc. However, I would say that their tours and designs look just as good as anyone elses. Why no sales? I have no idea. But, when you start signing up for programs that pay $50 for a trial membership you have to expect that you're not going to be converting in really high numbers.

I suggest picking more middle of the road sponsors with revenue shares or per sign up amounts that seem reasonable. As a rule of thumb things that seem too good to be true usually are. I would also note that every program that has such a high per signup program ALWAYS whores out the exit traffic - that's why the big payout.

Forget what you hear about their retention, most paysites only retain about 20-35% of their trial signups into a renewal. Do the math yourself and you'll see how dependant they are on making sales with the exit traffic.

Most efforts to make a quick buck will always fail. I recommend patronizing affiliate programs that don't fuck the surfer. When you join a program you SHOULD be concerned about what the monthly renewals are... Check out their tours yourself and see how many hide the terms and conditions OR the renewal amount for that matter.

Most of you probably don't think like I do. However, I always recommend using affiliate programs where you believe in the product and pricing.

Cheers!

Big players offer a 3 day free trail if Im not mistaking. This trial renews at $49,95 every 30 days. And they are paying 50$ pr active member right? Surfers are probably scared shitless and canceling their free trials as the same rate as my mad monkey hitbot team in the basement are clicking :winkwink:

Alot of the people buying memberships on the web buy LOTS of memberships. They're getting smarter because they've been fucked so many times. Someone once told me that some of these guys average 7 website subscriptions.

For me they convert around 1:1300, but I got much more hits a day in comparison with other sponsors. I guess, they count your hits more exactly. Lastly itīs important, what you make out of the traffic of your site, not the conversion ratio. For me itīs one of the five or six good sponsors rotating on my hardcore sites.
@pipp - So far I know, they pay 50$ for the free trial, not necessary the active member, but the free trial is only accessable by online check for US and Canadian citizens.

great, many webmasters use them but they dont know for what kind of signup they get paid and how much the surfer is charged.

:thumbsup
