why not take one of these huge telescopes and just look at the site where they left everything behind... all still there, so they should be able to see it. simple

They have mirrors on the moon right now. We periodically bounce lasers off of them to get the current distance from the earth to the moon. We do that of course because the moon is sick of us and is slowly moving away each year.

They we're all killed and buried at Area 51.

I have no idea really but I voted fake just to make it close. The US had the technology to do it so I suppose the question is wheather it was easier to actually do it to show up the Russians or just recreate it here and save a few bucks. Who knows but I'm quite sure that by now someone who has access to a decent telescope would have taken a peek and posted some pics if the landing site was barren.
