Sex.com - Bidding for Traffic?
Have any of you used Sex.com for buying traffic? I met with Gary today, owner of Sex.com, and he showed me how Sex.com works. I can say, it is quite interesting.
Most of their traffic is from type ins for sex.com and major search engines that use their results like altavista. They have about 600 keywords that people either type in or click on through their search, then the search results display. The Top-10 result spots can all be bid on and they generally sell between $.03-$.15 per click through. The setup is a little different than normal search engines and traffic trading, but the concept seems to work very well. Needless to say, I thought it was quite interesting, so I was curious to see if any of you have tried it out? Just thought I'd bring it up and see what you guys thought. |
Also, the URL with info is http://www.sex.com/advertising/
|
No one uses Sex.com?

As for what we where talking about, I thought it was cool that you bid for clicks on Sex.com, the most common type in with major search engine traffic. After seeing what Sex.com does, I think you all should at least drop $100 and give it a try. Right now it is a steal because the idea is new and not to many people know they can bid for targted click throughs for as little as $.03 at Sex.com. Not to mention, bidding against other webmasters should provide you with some entertainment. Just my $.02 |
clickpimp, is sex.com working for people? What's the deal? baddog has his useless opinion, but what's up from the inside? Is sex.com a good deal for webmasters?
|
lol
Kremen. Cohen. different people. Kremen = good. Cohen = bad. |

I haven't tried them yet but may well do in the near future. I've heard mixed reports though and at least a couple have lost more than they made.
|
If I had an adult site, I'd at least give it a try. Most of you guys have $100 to gamble.
:) |
do they have hitbot protection pimpshost??
cuz tried overture & that was a big ripoff - my stats vs. theirs.... way way way different! Vegas |
Jason:
Please check your email and ICQ. I am a Cologroup customer and have left you ICQ messages, emails and a support ticket. I see by your response on this board that you are around, and yet my customer questions remain unanswered. Is this now the best way to get ahold of you? Thank you. |
That traffic is a waste of money. SE traffic is no different then tgp, toplist, or any other type of traffic. Just because a surfer went to a se and typed in a word doesnt make him smarter or dumber then anyone else. Actually with all the tgp/s using those damm bull shit trade and CJ scripts now and blind links its safer to surf by using a SE then by getting jerked around. All traffic is the same a surfer can arrive at your site via SE or bookmark or anyother way and he is still the same person.....
Just my 2 cents. |

Sex.com has decent traffic. Its cost effective and reliable. On the downside it is not as easy to manage a large campaign with them as with overture or findwhat.

Yes, i think baddog knows what he is talking about dude. We have bought the traffic before, Its not that good and it is was a trickle. We have bought from the webmaster page to the surfer page and just didnt feel it was worth it. |
Wonder if I should sell my sex.com email addresses? :Graucho

further, sex.com's ppc is usually 1/2 of overture, and your money goes a lot further with much more targeted traffic. icq me #158971883 if anyone has any more questions ... :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents: bout a dime's worth i'd say ... |

or if advertising on sex.com is not your thang, get a sex.com search box on your site(s), split the ppc $, and see for yourself how we both do ... |
Whoa, mixed up names, mass confusion. I got it. :)

Let me clear this up, Gary's last name is Kremen, I was speaking of Steve Cohen who is the guy that ripped off Sex.com from Gary. Cohen then paid $30,000 to be placed under house arrest in Tiajuana. I was responding to boneprone and payrollpete's comments about Cohen when I made my initial post "that guy cracks me up, paid $30,000 to be placed under house arrest. now is under protective custody of the Federales." Please pay attention |
I see the mixup, happens when you talk about 2 people the same thread. It's all good :)

I can be a jerk at times, to be sure, but I am never two-faced about it. |
I got thrown off by a couple things on the post, it was just a mix up. The post was originally about Sex.com and I mentioned I met with Gary. I was just trying to let people know about the advertising.
Then Cohen gets brought up, Quote:

well, since you just met with Gary, I think it is pretty obvious that he is not under house arrest in Mexico. But whatever, like you said, it is all good.
and I am pretty sure we did not meet Saturday or I would have taken you into the office Susanne so graciously allowed me to commandeer, and given you the personal tour of ContentLotto :1orglaugh If you are interested in seeing what you missed, hit me up at [email protected] or ICQ 16075497 |
they need better marketing
|
Agreed, they have the name and people enter it in, but they need to get the word out. I think what they do is simlar to Ebay in that many of us thought the idea was stupid in the begginning, but now we all use it and think it is great.
The thing I found most interesting was the fact that the webmasters set the pricing on the advertising. So if the click throughs are not worth what is being paid, the price will go down. Just like ebay, how you bid on items, you bid against other webmasters for the click throughs. I think ClickPimp should write up a powerpoint or something to send to people interested in sex.com. It took Gary explaining to me what it is they do to realize how it works. So keep that in mind, since a lot of people do not know about sex.com right now, the click throughs are undervalued and you can get them at a steal price. Once everyone finds out about it and understands it, you'll have to pay more. |

and true, because of all the nastiness with the domain snatch by cohen, and the fight to bring it home, etc, we are really just getting out of the gates bringing it all up to speed. as for better marketing... patience young jedi, the force is strong in this one. if you have had a bad experience, it may be worth another look, but by all means go with your gut until proven otherwise. we simply want to work with the best, and will do our best to get there and drive your (and our) profits up. look for MANY things to come, including more parties, shows, general debachery and of course many more ways to drive traffic and make $$ that is all ? :stoned |
