Anybody here with law degree? I want to be a lawyer (inspired by Law and Order) !!!
 

Actually I tried. Went to pre-law for one year and dropped out because I couldn?t afford going full time. Good decision!!! Buddy of mine finished law school and now is an ambulance chaser ! last client he had was some construction guy that didn?t have any money and ended up paying by putting tile in his house for free in exchange for his services.

First take the LSAT (Extremely hard, all verbal with logic problems at the end).
Then start looking for private law school cause you have plenty of chance of getting accepted as supposed to public law schools (Cheap tuition fee therefore, way too competitve.) IF you get around 550+ you have a good shot at getting into a law school. Most law schools do not recommend getting a job your first year because the first year is considered most difficult. Getting a Juris Doctorate is lots of hard work and dedication. If you do get in, do a concentration on Mass Tort (Massive Asbestos cases), thats the way to make money.

I have a lot of respect for anyone that takes the lsat test, those stupid damn logic questions.. My brain explodes just reading those.

I wonder if law students in other countries like the Netherlands or Russia or China have to do those questions too, or is it just americans? I have always wondered that... Plus is it something that only recent law students had to do or have law students from say the 1800's have to solve that crap too? I'm talking about these kind of questions :

Do law students in all countries have to practice logic questions like that, or is it just americans??? And what about law students a hundred yrs ago, did they have the same type of questions or is this just something recent?

The funny thing about these so called "graduate" tests, they are still multiple choices and not a fill in or essay types. The test makers still are afraid of one of the dudes who will be using christ mass tree tactics and get majority of the questions right. :winkwink:

By using POE you can eliminate answer C. Mark is not sharing a seat with anyone. Furthermore you can eliminate B because Tom will not sit with either gwen or paul. E is impossible because cart will only carry up to 2 seats. Again, question states that Laurie is sharing a seat so A is out of the question as well. Only answer is D, Jack and Tom. :)

LSAT was not the problem it?s the feeling of ?if you?re not top notch you wont make it?. I wanted to be in corporate copyright law, not the dreamer type .. But I realized that unless you?re fully dedicated and have a lot of time and money to invest in it you would be a traffic lawyer forever. On the other hand I knew the guy that barely passed certification and had a client that was in a car incident where a Budweiser delivery truck ran over stop sign and almost killed his wife while being slightly intoxicated. The case didn?t even go to court and he made 2 million dollars.

Toughest places to pass the Bar exam are Florida and Newyork. Just because you have a law degree does not mean you get to practice. Thats another test you have to take to become a fully operating lawyer after you graduate from a law school.

Very impressive! I just wonder if all law students have to do these kinds of questions, like students in russia, france, china, england?? Or is it just americans? And how long have been these questions around? Is it something recent to torture law students or have these type of questions been around for a long time... I just think these questions are torturous and really really bad.

Yes foreign students can take LSAT but they have to prove that they are fluent in english by taking TOEFL test first. So for people with english as second language have to take 2 tests. TOEFL and LSAT.

I think you still have to have bachelor degree from accredited college. So some University of Central Albania diploma won?t do it.. I sure hope so?

I agree 95% with what you said. I was headed for Law school and atleast in California the LSAT is rated as the 3rd hardest test in the state. The score range is from 125 to 180, 180 being the highest. You can get into a law school (a shitty one) with as little as a 145, but don't expect law firms to be beating down your door. When I took it I got a 165 and could have gotten into a good school only because my GPA was a 3.75%. Good thing is you take the test as often as you like, but the last time I took it they only administered it 2-3 times a year. It's a bitch every time and it's different everytime.

Oops, yes I meant 155+ not 550. 165 is really good and with 3.75 you should be getting into top school, have you applied yet?

I agree, I got a 164 on my LSAT, undergrad GPA was 3.65, graduate GPA was 3.51 (I kind of stoped given a fuck on my grades my last year) and I was put on a waiting list for law school. The year I applyed, the school I wanted received more apps that year than they ever did before. I had to work, so I could only go to law school during the evening (3 1/2 - year program). Does not really matter - I never wanted to practice law anyhow, I made a lot more money working for myself. I just wanted to learn how lawers are tought to think. To me, this has real value.

Sounds like I'm in the same boat. Began applying and got a job in Real Estate, made $15k my 2nd month and asked myself why I'd pay $100k to go to school for 3 more years and come out to be a dog in some law firm...So I didn't go....Now I work in this and Real Estate....more fun....

there are days that I dream of becoming a lawyer, and there are those when I want to be a pilot, sometimes I want to be a doctor. I feel like a child again with all these wild dreams in me

You have questions like that in law schools?! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh What the fuck? Why? Simple logic tests.. I hope they're a *LOT* harder than that sample you gave.
