why are you buying a LCD and not a CRT?

LCD have ghost, dead pixels, and they have a fixed resolution.. You can't change its resolution. It sucks.

mechanicvirus 04-23-2006 01:53 PM

Looks big, I thought CRT was a dying thing?

chupachups 04-23-2006 01:56 PM

Thats a nice monitor Airek. You may be a little carefull buying dell though - they tend to have backlight problems.

MikeVega 04-23-2006 01:56 PM

I like the 20 but i'd rather have 2 17's .. not sure way buut the one big sceen doesn't work for me .. even 2 19" i guess but 17"'s do me just fine

seeric 04-23-2006 01:57 PM

i had lasik surgery and those fucking tubes mess with my eyes. i never want one again. and they take up too much space.

im no graphic artist nor a video editor or care about having ferrari. i surf internt, do some code, html editing, etc etc, webmaster stuff.

i'll never buy a crt again.

I've never had any of those problems with my 19 inch Samsung LCD - 940bf.

Herb Kornfield 04-23-2006 02:18 PM

I just got the same one you are looking at now ( dell 20.1 ) 2 weeks ago.

Its pretty freakin sweet.... :thumbsup

KRL 04-23-2006 02:19 PM

Its good but I bought the Samsung 204T and run it at 1600 x 1200. I looked at the Dell and compared that to the Samsung and liked the Sam better.

The display is perfect, colors are perfect, text is razor sharp and when you look at images you get HiDef quality. HiRes pictures are absolutely gorgeous.

selena 04-23-2006 02:23 PM

I have that exact monitor, and I love it.

Edit: I stand corrected. I have this:

Dell UltraSharp 2005FP Wide Flat Panel w/Height AdjustableStand,20.0 Inch VIS,OptiPlex and Precision,Customer Install

Paid $421 on sale through Dell, with no shipping.

i just picked up a 19" wide screen from wal-mart for $250 and it kicks ass.

MattO 04-23-2006 02:56 PM

Those are good monitors, keep your eyes out at sites like http://www.gotapex.com for coupon deals on Dell monitors, get it from Dell and not Ebay, then if you have any problems with the backlight or pixels it's better covered.

the new dell widescreen flat panels use the same Samsung LCD panels as the Apple widescreen monitors use.

ElvisManson 04-24-2006 10:38 AM

Maybe five years ago... There's virtually no ghosting nowadays, optimum resolutions do exist along with variants, and dead pixels aren't an issue if you purchase a quality monitor.

Dell monitors are great, go with it :thumbsup

4Pics 04-24-2006 10:44 AM

you don't want 20" wide screen, if you get a 20" get the square. If you get a 24" they are the same height as a 20" just wider. I switched from dual 20's to a 24" and it works pretty good. Wish it was 2-3" wider though.

GregA 04-24-2006 11:30 AM

NEC makes real nice LCD's too I have one of those but I just got a new dell laptop and the screen on that is so amazing I can barely stand to look at any of my LCD's 17" widescreen in 1920x1200 or something looks sick

webair 04-24-2006 11:36 AM

ya man that's pretty!

Mr Pheer 04-24-2006 12:08 PM

I have two of the dell 20.1" widescreens sitting right in front of me. Juicy has the same dual monitor setup. Another cool thing is that i also have my xbox 360 plugged into my left monitor with a vga cable, i can just change the monitor channel and play xbox on one screen and watch stats and instant messages on the other.
