Memories of the industry some 6, 7 or 8 years ago (for all the noobs)
Some memories...
- the Circle Jerk reigned supreme. Instead of thumbs leading to galleries, you had text links leading only to trades. And people actually clicked them. - every paysite had the same design. A big pic which fit into an 800*600 screen and consisted of a bunch of pictures put together and adorned with such slogans as "Over 10000 pictures!" - a semi-blind click was easily worth $0.25, and sponsors actually paid that. Per click. - a site using tables had a pretty advanced design compared to most other sites. - people clicked banners when they said "click me". - almost all galleries were on free hosts, most of those non-adult freehosts. - if you updated a site with 5 new real galleries a day, surfers immediately started bookmarking your site, passing it on to their friends and sending in grateful emails. - every other site out there was using stolen content. - toplists were pretty advanced software. - SEO consisted of spamming your website to every mainstream directory and search engine out there, and putting every word you could think of in your description and keywords metatags. This really worked, too. |
Don't make me cry again man. :(

memories of the industry some 2/3 years ago: you could make a good living submitting galleries, and a killing if you knew what to promote, now you have guaranteed negative ROI spots for sale, or 5k/day tgps selling partner accounts. :(

I have vivid memories of Epochsystems first transactions. They had hooked up speakers to play a "chaching" sound every time a new transaction (sale) happened using their system, back in 96. Well, it didnt take long before the "chaching" sound, which used to happen ever 10 seconds or so, got so annoying because it sounded continously that it had to be turned off to give peace to the programmers when they worked.... LOL

Hmm I do remember getting bw at 7.00 a gig and thinking that was a great deal.
Getting iratated when the hun linked gallery pages because it skipped the main page of the free site. Having nightmares about biancas smut shack. Emailing yahoo because a site needed a category that was not listed, they responded same day and added both the site and category. Submitting to a search engine, getting listed within a few hours. If you were on a free non adult host often your site was then down again by next day to excessive bandwidth. 4-5 bucks a piece was an acceptable price for non exclusive pictures. |

1995 was the shit! Competition was slim, and search engine listings were always good.

The good old days where you did nothing and got paid for it (good times good times) Thanks for the flashback :thumbsup
|
well noone to blame other than yourselves, you consistently and constantly find ways to fuck your industry over. Rape and Pillage, the adult webmasters slogan :thumbsup
|
I want those days back haha
|
When a Hun listing was only 30k in traffic and a simple AP banner top and bottom with 12 thumbs in between was enough to make $500

Damn it. I remember when I first saw porn on the net I thought that there must be some money to make from it but never bothered to find out how.
7 years later I find out how and it`s almost too late. |
AVS programs kicked ass
