Ridding the Internet of domain campers?
 

It's pretty sad when everytime you think of producing something, that will add SOME benefit to the internet, you find that the domains you want to use for the idea are taken. But whats worse is when those domains are taken by domain campers that just throw adsense on them.

What if people compiled lists of domain campers, and people sent proxy based hitbotters to those sites. In theory, it would work, because the advertisers wouldnt know what traffic was real and what was fake and wouldnt want to pay a substantial amount for hitbot traffic, thus closing that persons account. No account means no money for domain campers. Then maybe they'll sell the domain or just let it expire.

Would it work?

Google decides if they will cancel someone's account for fraud. Advertisers don't decide, they just pay for the traffic to be delivered.

But ultimately, maybe? I dunno... I don't think click fraud is a very respectable way to do business.

Domain campers? Thats what most of us thought in 1998; guess what, the people who figured it out back then are multi-millionaires today.

I have domains that I have paid good money for but have not yet put a site up. Dose that make me a bad person because you want the domain?

Go grab a beer, you're spending too much time in front of your 'puter....

If you intend to put something on it that actually contributes something to the internet, and isnt just a page full of uselessness then keep it and work on getting it up. If not, sell it to someone who could use it.

if the domain is worth it and you think you can make it a good site, shell out the bucks and buy it off the guy, you'll make your money back in the long run

This is what's called you snooze you loooooooose.

I do disagree with one statement saying that we should marvel at them. Some do a great job. However, there are some collecting $20/day on sites that with a little development and creativity could be pulling thousands a day.
