With ccbill its easy, since they offer such an option in the admin.

I found CCBill's upgrades to be a huge pain in the ass to work with... Paycoms solution is elegant and clean though.

Any good programmer will be able to modify your CMS to only show certain content if you are a trial user (checking against your NATS database). All the setups I've done then determine which biller the member signed up with, and redirect them to the proper upgrade page (NATS also has scripts for both paycom and ccbill upgrades).
