Life after death..
Sorry, but I just can't get this off my mind at the moment. This is one of those issues where you just can't make yourself believe something that you don't already. If you believe in life after death.. or at least.. something more than -this-, it's probably comforting and maybe a little easier when you feel or mourn the loss of someone. If you don't believe in anything else.. this is it.. nothing comes next.. it's much less comforting and you have to come to grips with your own mortality and it being the end of the line.
I'm one of those who just can't believe there's anything else after this. I wish I could believe that there was, but it's just not there for me. What do you believe? Is there anything more? |
I believe there is, but I find myself scared that I may be wrong more and more. Death is a very touchy subject with me, I dont know why but it is one of my only major fears.
|
Personally, I like the idea and believing it comforts me. The concept of heaven, where you reunite with all your lost loved ones and find out the answers to questions you've had your whole life just sounds nice.
Whether or not it's for real, I couldn't say. Scientifically, logically, the idea is absurd. But, I still keep it there like a security blanket. |
i am an existentialist. there is nothing after this, life is utterly meaningless. which if you are strong, sets you free, and gives you the ability to pursue your own meaning. knights of faith.

i believe there is life after death....and thats maybe why i am not afraid of death!

What happens to energy when it's been used. Does it dissappear or does it transfer into something else?
I think the answer to the question of life after death is directly related to the answer to that question. |
Your spirit is your conscious state of being that is currently secured within your physical form. This energy, an energy that is pushing your heart to pump and the neurons in your brain to function, retains your thoughts, perceptions and memories and ultimately seperates from this physical form and moves on into it's astral realm where the limitations presented by our physical form are lifted.
In other words, I believe in life after death but I also believe it's different for various people to a certain extent. There is simply so much still unknown about the makeup of our minds, conscious and sub conscious minds, other dimensions, inter demensional travel etc, there is really no telling. But look at it this way. If our memories and thoughts are retained within the neuroelectrical structures within our brains, and this energy can't be ultimately destroyed, it then must go somewhere...therefore it is for us to believe that our spirits/energy lives on beyond our physical lives. Just my thoughts. I should add that I almost believe the way we live now is closer to death than after we have actually died...think about it. |
i dont think there is anything after you die
where were you before you were born? :\ |
I sure hope there is, or I am going to be pissed.
|
Where were you before you were born?
Who knows? What I do believe is that our physical forms greatly limit our mental abilities. Who is to say that the reason we are in this form to begin with stems from things or choices we made in previous forms of existence and in order to truly find the answers we seek our true being is intentionally limited by our physical state. If we all knew for a fact that we came from previous forms, lived previously lives or knew for a fact that when we die we move onto something else, we wouldn't take our present lives as seriously and with that, there is no telling how the world around us would be... |

Why is that? I am like Raffi. I not only don't fear it, but look forward to seeing what happens next. Like I said, I am going to be pissed if it just ends. |

I don't fear my own death. That's not to say that I'd be cool with dying tomorrow. But the idea of dying one day doesn't bother me. What I don't like is knowing that many close to me will die before I do, and I fear their deaths. I don't do well with grief.

It kind of levels the playing field. |
I think that when you die, thats it - game over
doesnt really bother me, and if it did bother me its not like i could do anything about it anyway |
I'm not gonna say I'm not scared, but I also have come to understand it will happen sometime, and I have no control. I also think there is a life after this? All I know is that when it happens, if I'm a ghost, I'm gonna come haunt you fuckers using the name mrkris_ghost

We had this topic last week...and the week before that.
|
Your brain = your soul = your consiousness. When you die your brain dies, your soul dies. I know you hippies really hope there is more but no, there isnt anything. What was there before you were born? Nothing.
Idiots. |
my friends find it wierd of me when I talk about my own death like I'm talking about the weather. I mean its gonna happen anyway and no one can stop.

Some of you stated that there must be an afterlife because any form of energy can't just disappear. I agree that energy can't vanish and just change it's form, but the bad news is that it's possible to prove into what our energy is transforming after death...
|
Its just like sex vs marriage... I believe in life before death.

maybe I was going to hell? lol |
What baffles me most about death is how some people can have such firm convictions about it.
Face it - the only way to know for sure whether there's life after death, is to experience it firsthand. Reminds me of that old movie Flatliners. |
