InFocusGirls from SapphicCash - Why this is one of the best sites I've seen.
 

Those of you who've met me, or seen me interrupting people with a microphone in my hand (apologies) know that, while I openly admit that I may know nothing, I have strong opinions anyway about developing paysites.

I receive a LOT of questions and queries everyday as to what currently works best for adult sites, so I'm going to use In Focus Girls from SapphicCash as an example of something that does work.

I was thrilled to see a new review come out on TheBestPorn today for In Focus Girls... it did exceptionally well for a new site review.


Just to clarify, I don't do reviews for TheBestPorn.. but I was compelled to take a hard look at this site and hold it up as an example of what TO DO.

And, of course, this is specific to paysites with photo galleries, and video libraries and so on, as opposed to PPV, stores and other business models...

What's GOOD About the Site:
(in no specific order)

Exclusive Content: Of course, and lots of it... and that's a real big deal.

Content Quantity: While the site's relatively new, there's a very good amount of content available - Over 100 well-sized image galleries and over 100 videos of varying lengths. And remember, this is all exclusive content.

Content Features: There are options for viewing and downloading content.
Images are big and available in zip files.
Videos are available in multiple formats and sizes, including HiDef.
They can be streamed in multiple Flash sizes, or downloaded in multiple sizes of WMV, QT and MPG.
Each video has it's own very clean page which includes a full description, the photo gallery, and very clear viewing options.

DRM: I'm all about using DRM for marketing on P2P and so on, but adult consumers are hip to this now and they don't like it. We get complaints about DRM everyday. Many users believe that if they've bought something they should keep it, they don't like it on iTunes and they don't like it with their porn; they are increasingly choosing to stick with sites that do NOT wrap their members content in DRM restrictions. InFocusGirls doesn't use DRM on their members' content.

Updates: Updates are daily (and that's made very clear to members).

Design & Navigation: The tour and site design are perfect for the teen niche. The navigation is simple, easy to follow and prioritized logically from the centre-out (helps drunk horny people find things in a haze). The Search features are excellent, with clean, well-presented graphical and alphabetical searches by Model and Type.

No Limited Trials: Enough already! Limited trials are so '99! Seriously... either give them a few days access or don't, but let's please stop pissing off the customers.

Billing: There are multiple membership and billing options available.

Our primary reviewer gave it a 91.0, which I think is lower than deserved. Without a doubt that score will go up when the site goes for an Official Review by all four reviewers very soon.

If you're building paysites, this is a standard to follow. You'll make more sales, retain members longer, and make your affiliates more money.

If you send traffic to affiliate programs and have appropriate traffic, try this site. I see no reason at all why it wouldn't do unusually well for you, too.

In Focus Girls is part of the SapphicCash affiliate program, which also runs Sapphic Erotica, another very good site.

Limited trials are complete bullshit. It is basically scamming the trial ammount out of the surfer since the content they paid to see is almost always only viewable once you upgrade. Webmasters have this shit stuck in their head "hurry up and bill their ass now!" instead of "Lets make them want to pay and be happy doing so".

Yes, darling. There are some who do it well enough to be the exception, NaughtyAmerica for example... but damn are users getting more and more nasty about this!

Oh, and Aly, I agree with you about the site. Sapphic Erotica always makes the highest quality sites. Those guys have the magic touch over there.

Roger, its going great, way better than expected and on sales numbers that are about 5 times higher than I could hope for. But then its less than 3 weeks old, and we havent actively promoted it to affiliates or released promotional content yet. Once that happens its going to drop to more of our normal levels I'm sure. I know the people behind Sapphic very well and known the owner Bailey since2001.

They have always concentrated on the one thing the surfer is buying and the thing this review ignores. PORN.

Bailey told me how he wanted his lesbian porn shot and I could see he know what he was talking about. We no longer shoot for him, but the rules same applies today. Shoot good porn.

Sell good porn and you don't have to adopt all the marketing tricks others have to. Sell good porn and use the tricks and the "Throw it up and throw hits at it brigade" suffer.

As for limited trials are you saying full access to your site is not good enough to keep them? Of course you need to stop the guy Auto Downloading everything is 3 days.

DRM. Interesting subject. I sell a months viewing of content, not the content. Rather like Blockbuster I rent the content, but I don't use DRM. But it might be the way in the future.

When you stop the guy that wants to download your entire site in 3 days from doing so he will simply go find it for free. Limited trials are, have been, and will always be a crock of shit. I know nobody can argue with you though, your 89 years of experience means you know more even though you make 5 figures (gasp) on a site that you already had unlimited content for. That combined with your vast knowledge (that they passed up for a new content provider, much hotter I must say) means you know more than the people that have come and gone and come and gone and come and gone since you started in this biz. Even though 3 or 4 generations of site owners have retired this decade you still know more with your site. I hope to die with that much knowledge one day. :thumbsup

In case you didn't notice, the site has NO TRIALS at all! So this comment does not apply.

2nd has to do with DRM. Content owners will always be concerned about content theft, that's what users do. I personally am not a big fan of DRM, and only use it on long-form video, but you should not rag on content owners for trying to protect their property.

You guys were the same way when someone copied elements of your site.

I was agreeing with you about limited trials. We do not do them if you noticed, because we feel the number of poor site who use them put off as many as the trial converts. But maybe we should give them a run to see.

Yes people have retired in the last decade and I'm still here. If you knew me you would know why I'm not sitting on a beach in Thailand and trust me it has nothing to do with money. But then you know nothing about me.

And that's why they have become a very big program after the early easy days. Also where did you ever see a banner for them on the boards or anything else promoting them up to a year ago?

They got big by one method, converting and retaining. The traffic followed.

Regarding DRM; I don't fault content owners for wanting to protect their property, and I'm not ragging on anyone. What I'm saying is that while it may make perfect sense on so many levels, users are becoming more aware of DRM and don't like it. They're increasingly choosing to spend money with sites that don't use it... That's the hard reality that some are choosing to acknowledge... SapphicCash for example. :)

For me trials will never be a part of our normal join process. Our content quality and volume is worth more than that and I think it would hurt our income more than improve it due to return customers. The only trials we will ever have is cross sales from our existing sites, and I am undecided on whether to use limited trials or not there.

As for DRM. I would love to use it. I do think we should let members keep whatever content they want on their hard drive, but it should only be THEIR hard drive. Unfortunatley I see major problems with a guy who was a member 9 months ago and lost his drm licenses or something silly, and right now we have no nice way of dealing with that. Content theft from our sites is huge and something we are actively working on.

Lens: I just had one of your sites reviewed by one of my guys and on reality cash you offer DRM protected WMVs but then you also offer MPEG downloads which - of course - are unprotected and even in a better quality then the wmvs

why protect at all then? makes no sense to me.

The only people for DRM are those that produce content. No-one else can understand how personal you take it when someone is using your work. When someone has STOLEN your work and is profiting from it in any way.

If your intention is to draw traffic in any way you are gaining from anothers investment.

If it's no big deal ... fine, make your own, it's no big deal right?

Would anyone reading this be pissed if I stopped by your house, took your car and rented it to others?

What would Hertz say if I rented one of their cars and re-rented it to others?
