What does what "RETURN ITEM CHARGE BACK" in bank terms mean for a deposited check?

Im seeing this in my online bank statement for a check i recently deposited. :(

Does that mean it bounced?

It sounds like it. Was the amount you deposited credited AND debited?

OR, perhaps YOU wrote a bad cheque?

Something you deposited was returned by the issuing bank for some reason. Most common reason of course being NSF. Deposit amount of that check will be deducted from your account as well as possibly a small fee ranging from 5.00 to 20.00.

I deposited the check last week. No problems until today. Now i have that in my "description" next to it with a big negative sign saying it was taken out.

The amount was deposited last week and credited up until today when I noticed it in my online statement.

I dont write bad checks, I have plenty of money and have never come close to writing a bad check.

Then yes, the cheque you deposited bounced.
