Is it me or does time seem to be speeding up?

It's almost May of 2006. Feels like the Millennium was just last year.

time seems to speed up and before you know it, it's July again, then you blink and it's December again and then another New Year and then poof... May of 2007.

Just seems time is going so fast... wonder if that is an illusion or what causes that feeling?

I think the industry moves fast, we work a fast paced business, maybe that is why .... when I finally take notice, 6 months of time passed again...

hmmmm,can anyone relate to this?

chadglni 04-19-2006 09:08 PM

Age. The older I get the faster I get there.

Spunky 04-19-2006 09:09 PM

I was thinking the exact same thing..it's flying by ,but Summer is almost here

Downtime 04-19-2006 09:11 PM

time isn't speeding up

madawgz 04-19-2006 09:13 PM

yes, time is speeding up

ever since 2000 shits been going wayyyyy too fast!

FrameShifter 04-19-2006 09:30 PM

The passage of time, and how fast it seems is relative to how long you've lived. For each year that passes, that one year's percentage of your whole lifetime is smaller, this is why it seems the older you get the faster time goes.

baddog 04-19-2006 10:16 PM

A sure sign that you are getting older . . . get used to it

SilentKnight 04-19-2006 10:18 PM

Time seems to fly by the older I get. I remember as a kid summer vacation from school seemed to last a very long time. But these days it seems a quick leap from spring to fall...and back in to winter again.

This winter seemed to fly-by unbelievably fast for me.

Yep. Same here. I think it just depends on your mindset. As we get older we are in a hurry to get our paychecks/wires/etc. So we like time to go by fast to get to the next source of money, weekend, whatever. Then in no time another week, month, season's passed.

I agree with you. It seems like when you are a kid, summers, and days lasted forever. Same in college when you were bored. But since getting older, responsibility, and worrying about the daily grind. Time flies by so fast you are always asking what month it is when writing out your checks.

Eish.

:Oh crap

Thought you were gonna break out in a Queen song there. :1orglaugh

Sometimes I get to feelin'
I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young
Thing seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young
The sun was always shinin' - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don't know
The rest of my life's been just a show

Thats why we need more webmaster conventions in warm sunny places. That way we can do business and sip margarittas by the beach :) Relaxation can be a tax right off :)

cspdinc 04-20-2006 12:02 AM

yup you must be just over 28, thats when I first noticed it happening. Now its a different season everytime I get out of bed it seems.:1orglaugh

Just wait till the first time you go "I remember when" realize it and then go shoot yourself cause thats it, your done....lol.

reynold 04-20-2006 12:18 AM

the Millenium craze still feels fresh to me. I can't believe we're already halfway the first decade.

xLaborJames 04-20-2006 12:20 AM

Yeah it seems like everything post 2000 has gone right by for me.

KRL 04-20-2006 12:22 AM

The older you get the faster time goes by. It really freaks you out when you wake up one day and you're 40. You look in the mirror and think WTF?

My kid's going to be a teenager already in another year and it seems like he was just a little baby in a crib.

Time flys. Enjoy every day while you're young and energetic. Once you get in your 40's, though your mind still feels youthful, you're body just can't do all the same things like before.

LOL that is the worst or when you are talking about something and no one knows what your talking about. I mean doesnt anymore remember the berlin wall, atari. David Koresh. Whats wrong with these whipper snappers today???

The Adult Broker 04-20-2006 08:37 AM

I think that much of this is right. The older I get, the more responsibilities I have and that requires alot of time and attention.

I also notice that it's taking me forever to get some things done like call back friends, stay in touch with old friends, take my car in for servicing, etc. I keep saying "Why is there never enough time in the day?" Next thing I know it's on the to-do list the following month again.

So yea, as you get older I guess it speeds up... I think I am going to assess my life now, balance some shit out and then take a long overdue vacation hopefully where time stands still for awhiile! :)

gentmaster 04-20-2006 11:45 AM

Wish a day was 48 hours. Time is moving by way too fast; I'm sitting here looking back and thinking, "that's all I've done in my life so far? wtf am I waiting for?"

Wilson you just hang on.

Exactly. I'm 41 and starting to find the body doesn't 'bounce back' the way it used to, even though I stay in good physical shape with hiking and mountain biking a lot during the summer months.

As for kids morphing in to teens - I hear ya'. Our oldest turns 16 in a few months, and her sister is just entering her teens shortly. Time sure flies...

Furious_Male 04-20-2006 01:30 PM

Time means nothing to me anymore with the exception of deadlines set by clients.

datawookiee 04-20-2006 01:34 PM

Ive had rather the opposit effect.

as of today, ive been a civilian for 3 weeks and 6 days.
and the time in service has felt like a decade. i no longer have contact with anyone before that time, ive moved to a diffrent location and everything around me has been changed completly. And i feel as though i have no referance as to what civilian life is like.

Atleast time`s moving at a steady pace again. thank god.

I believe something shifted when 2000 hit. I mean, the Millennium was 6 years ago????

think about it, 6 years... that is alot of years in between then and today. :(

Quagmire 04-20-2006 02:25 PM

Its the 'toiletbowl syndrome' that you're feeling.

As the shit circles closer to the drain it spins faster. Life is just like that. You're closing in on the drain, so its spinning faster.

RhiannonAPM 04-20-2006 02:30 PM

It has gone pretty fast. 2000 I was graduating high school. Making plans to move out on my own and then BAM!! Marriage, child, divorce, child again. Moving from Nevada to Iceland, coming back and moving to Mississippi and coming back again. In 6 years of my life I have done so much and sometimes I sit and wonder how the hell I did all that in less then 6 years....can time just slow down a little so I can enjoy my kids young for a little bit?? :(

majorbitch 04-20-2006 02:43 PM

Yeah. It feels like time is going faster especially if you have a kid.. watching them grow up, etc - time goes by fast that way.

OMG :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I guess this analogy isn't really that far off.

But I am cleaning up some of the 'shit' so to speak.

Getting rid of people and things that are not in my best interest or that positively contribute to my life...
Getting in front of what has been stubborn and checking them off the list.
Getting back to things I miss ... which is a big part of feeling like time is going fast... because when you don't make time for the things you want to do in life, it feels like time is stealing from you.

StuartD 04-20-2006 05:48 PM

In a way, it feels like I just had my baby... but he'll be turning 9 months old in a week.
In another way, it feels like I've had him around forever :)

crockett 04-20-2006 05:52 PM

Here is a pretty good explanation for it. It's all about time perception and your brain not working as hard as when you were younger.

Big Red Machine 04-20-2006 06:04 PM

So how did everyone like Internext Miami?
I thought it was alot better than Vegas, but that wasn't hard.

Cyndalie 04-20-2006 06:11 PM

I think I know what you mean Lori. I'm 29 as well and it feels like tomorrow I'm gonna wake up, it will be too late to have kids, and I'll have missed the boat being so burried in work, the biz, and 'lifestyle'. I find myself acting out, wanting to do everything I ever wanted to do before on or near my 30th birthday...Celebration of lost youth or something...
I'm looking forward to Internext (which is on my b-day), and I find myself looking forward to turning 30 at the same time. We may technically qualify as 'milf' but were still hot! hahaha I haven't had so much 'energy' since I was a teenager... My point is Live life to the fullest, and don't let work - no matter how much you enjoy it - keep you from completing the circle that creates your life. Time may be going by faster, we all feel it, so why not make now the time to do everything you've ever wanted to do...chase down your dreams and live them to the fullest. :) That's what it's all about! Best wishes to you and congrats on your success thusfar!

Yes time is getting faster I think it's because as we get older we start to enjoy life more. There for it just fly's by at crazy speeds it does me head in!

Remember as a kid how loooooooooooooooong it was between each christmas? Now it's like OH NOOOOOO, it's xmas again... xmas shopping sux... etc. etc. etc...

Remember when it felt like the year 2000 was 100 years away? I blinked and it was 2006...
