midwest webmaster gathering?
 

ive asked this a few times in the past several months but...are there gonna be any midwest/chicago area get-togethers for webmasters?? if not, anyone wanna plan a small one??

there should be a show thrown in chi town i would go

we should plan one. i need a reason to leave the bf for a night anyways. lol

the last chicago show was i believe 3 years ago and was setup by dr bizzaro.

problem with chicago is everyone wants to do something but when it comes to doing anything everyone seems to back out.

hitting a bar with a few webmasters i think might work tho :)

there's a shitload of us in the chicago area, we need to get something going soon.

why is chicago called "mid-west"? i never understood that....

It's not just Chicago. There have been a few planned for Michigan webby's as well. Something's always come up and it gets cancelled. So it's not location specific. Just how the industry is.

I just tried to have one a week or so ago and sandman was the only one that showed up.

I will be back in about 3 months, will try again. I plan on coming there every 3 months

It's not for lack of trying. Last year a few times people in Michigan tried to piece something together, and meet in Jackson. But it always seemed to get cancelled, or something.

It would be nice to be in a location (like LA) where you can meet with some others and generate some business networking for sure. Then you kinda put a face and personality with an ICQ number, or board persona.

That is why we tried to get something together when I was there at the beginning of the month. I see what happens when people get to know each other personally.

Oh well, like I said, I will be back and we shall try again.

i know of like 10 people (including me) that would definatly go. we should plan one....like at a park where u can swim and cookout or six flags in Ill (right outside of chicago). something fun where you can really get to know everyone. fuck that "lets go have drink" shit. the crowd would be hella small anyways..might as well make it one hell of a day and night. :thumbsup

Weren't you down in Indiana when you were over this way? I thought I remembered reading a post about you enjoying Indiana. I could be wrong though.

I know when they were planning the MI webby meeting, there were a ton of people spread all over the state from Detroit, UP, to the SW corner where I am at. Jackson seemed to be the easiest middle ground. I can't recall now who, but someone's brother had a restraunt or something it seemed like.

Oh well. Maybe when you get back something can be worked out.

You got a bunch of us here in NY/NJ.... Night out in the city... We have done a few of these over the past year or so......

Yes, I was staying with goodgirl in Indiana, but we drove the 2 hours to Chicago in an attempt to to make it more centralized and hopefully get a few people to join us.

We had a good time with sandman's company, and I think it is safe to say he is glad he ventured out, but we would have liked to have had a bigger turnout.

Maybe next time.

Cincinnati here - Chicago is about 4.5 hour drive. Be faster diving than getting on a plane. Including all the BS at the airports these days.
