Homeless Man Returns Wallet With $900

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A homeless man searching through garbage bins for recyclable cans found a missing wallet and had it returned to its owner.

Kim Bogue, who works as a janitor in the city's government buildings, realized that her wallet was missing last week and doubted she'd ever get back the $900 and credit cards inside, she said.

``I prayed that night and asked God to help me,'' said Bogue, who was saving the money for a trip to her native Thailand.

Days later, a homeless man found the wallet wrapped in a plastic bag in a trash bin, where Bogue had accidentally thrown it away with her lunch. He gave it to Sherry Wesley, who works in a nearby building.

``He came to me with the wad of money and said, 'This probably belongs to someone that you work with, can you return it,''' Wesley said.

Workers at a nearby relief kitchen said the man, who didn't want to be identified, insists on paying for his food.

that's neat. pretty few people in this world that'd do that thing..and considering he's also homeless...

'So Fucking Money 04-19-2006 12:19 PM

You know there used to be a homeless guy around here that had a decent amount of money. I guess from a fathers death or something. He just wanted to live that way. Some people just have a few screws loose.

It's like old rich fuckers that pinch every penny when they can actually afford to spend it.

TheWylders 04-19-2006 12:25 PM

I was in a strip club a few months back and the table I was sitting at had too much of a gathering crowd so I moved across the building to the other side. About 45 mins later this guys walks over and says, here I think this is yours. I hadn't even realized my wallet had fallen out and when I asked him how he knew it was mine he said I recognized you from the drivers license picture. I said thanks and as he walked away I opened it up to see my wad of $500 still where it always is and has to be moved to see the drivers license. I just couldn't believe it, needles to say he got a free lapdance that night:thumbsup

Expo_Vids 04-19-2006 12:48 PM

I read a story about a university study that dropped wallets (with money inside) in several countries around the world.

The countries where people returned the most wallets were all in northern Europe.

Gee, I wonder why that was the case? Hmmmmm

elitetec 04-19-2006 12:51 PM

He is honest

datawookiee 04-19-2006 12:52 PM

Not like he was "beating the system" or gaining from some big entity that could afford it. He saved a fellow poor person from their misfortune. I wish they had made a paypal or other addy for him as part of the story, I'd be the first to give him what I can.:thumbsup

yeah, its sad that she'll probably give most of the credit to God instead of the guy that actually returned the wallet.

Ive heard good things bout a few of the strip clubs in in Memphis. :)

mastermikex 04-19-2006 07:21 PM

hey, it pays to be nice to even those who don't seem to be the most affluent...i read about this one dude who owned an art gallery or something and he always let this one homeless guy sleep in his doorway at night or whatever, and bought him soup and stuff every now and then....then the homeless dude had a heart attack and ended up in the hospital, but the art gallery owner guy was the only one who went and visited him...i think the homeless guy died, but it turns out he was freakin rich from some inheritance or something and left it all to the art gallery owner because he was the only one who treated him like a human

reynold 04-19-2006 07:25 PM

I hope this story inspires a lot of people out there. Despite the poverty, he's still rich in spirit.

skinnay 04-19-2006 07:25 PM

its all about karma, but in this guys case not so sure karma is working for him. probably been honest most if not all of his life and he is homeless, so either its his decision to be homeless, or he got bent over by karma.

nice!

heh, i'm sorry to say that I cannot say the same thing about the strip club "Deja Vu" in Shreveport. I was there a month or so back and spent around $200 bucks that night. There was a NIN concert in town and afterwards we all went to the strip club then casino to continue the awesomeness of the night. Well I got home the next day and was looking over my online bank statement and noticed they charted me an EXTRA $100 to my card. wtfux i thought. the number on their receipts is invalid. I had to look up the number on the internet and call them. I call, a girl picks up, I tell her my problem, she said "hold on, I have to go find the guy who is in charge of that", she leave for 5 min. comes back, saids she will get him to call back ASAP whenever he become avail., takes down my name and number. I never recieve a call back. I've called over and over and havent been able get in contact with them again. FUCK THOSE SCAMMY ASSHOLES :x

c'est la vie

Amazing that even thought he hit rock bottom he still has a kind heart.

mastermikex 04-19-2006 07:35 PM

karma IS working for him...he found $900 for fucks sake...its just that he decided to give it back cuz he's a decent guy

WebairGerard 04-19-2006 07:59 PM
