Canon 30D or 20D

What is the difference between to 30D and the 20D and is it worth the extra money? Also what lens would you recommend for all around shooting.

DBS.US 04-18-2006 09:21 PM

20D with a 18-55mm EF-S Lens at costco is $1,199.99

I second that, but do you have any idea how many people will buy it from them.

Don't buy either. I had the 20D and hated it. Buy the Nikon D200, it blows the doors off the other 2!:thumbsup

Were you referred there by your insurer? If so then you'll get special insurance pricing for your future purchases as well, you just have to call them in advance. Just check that the insurance price is lower than what they'd offer in store as it can vary.

(Disclaimer... I made my claim a year ago so maybe they've discontinued this offer...)

No, i am having a long running battle with my insurance company, they are being total pricks. I had to go and pay for it out of my own money as the insurance company was taking to long, i should have them sorted by next week, my lawyers are working on it now.

I heard they fixed the loud shutter noise on the 30d, i love my 20d but cant shoot videos and stills at the same time without the loud shutter noise being picked up on the video. Ill probally be selling my 20d soon if they really fixed this issue

How long has it been? I was gnawing off my fingers by the time my home insurance paid up (about 4-5 weeks, most of that waiting for the police to release a report to say "yes, the house was forcibly broken into"). Since I moved up in models after the settlement I went with commercial insurance, hopefully if I ever have to make a claim it will be a lot quicker...

You can always use that second 30D from the insurance co as backup. :)

tony286 05-02-2006 05:51 PM

i would go with the 30d

xenigo 05-02-2006 06:00 PM

This shows the differences clearly. IMO you should pick up the 30D.

Move your mouse over the images to see the design changes.

I sell on eBay but would never buy anything on it.

Juilan 05-02-2006 08:08 PM

Only a matter of time 'til I sell my 20D for a full-frame 5D. One thing that has always bothered me since the 10D is the lack of tack sharpness to my eye. I wind up doing a lot of post to get the results I want.

Which lenses are you using? There's a good chance that your sensor can resolve more detail than your lenses provide...
