Quick domain question :)

The domain that got sniped from my WHOIS query the other night got dropped somehow. I guess it wasn't getting enough traffic for them to hold onto it. Yahoo Domains says it's unavailable, but Whois.net says it is.

I don't really want to buy it through Whois.net. How long might it take for it to be available through Yahoo Domains??????????

It's probably in the redemption period, we had a similar problem. Good luck getting it when it drops if you don't use a service like pool.com

72 days from the experation date, then it will be put back on the market

Hell this is frustrating. It said available at 2 registrars... now the information seems to have been updated, and both of them are saying unavailable now.

Did it really become available?!?! Fuck!!!

If they drop it (usually 3 days) you should be able to register it anywhere. Yahoo is probably assed out with a once / day update or something, should have grabbed it if you could. ;)

It doesn't make sense though, that they'd let it drop... and pick it up again right afterwards. Unless they saw my query, and it triggered their system somehow that someone was interested in the domain.

If it's the same company it probably never really dropped. Just a late whois or something.

There are glitches in whois all the time, It probably wasn't available.

Yes, no idea on your situation but those companies that "taste" domains usually keep them 3 or 4 days and when they drop them they are immediately available again. Just went through similar with a domain but luckily got it after they released. I have no idea if the short registration drop gets it listed in normal dropped domain lists but if it does I could see others scooping it up. I hate the whole system (until I can play in it).

It kept the same DNS it had before, so I'm somewhat convinced they just renewed it after the 3 day period. Possibly having something to do with the fact that I emailed the guy about it, after seeing the 'Buy this Domain' link the day after.

check whois and see if the creation date shows it registered later than it had been before.
