Do you remember the wrecked Enzo?
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Swedish former video game executive who destroyed a $1 million (565,000 pounds) Ferrari Enzo in a 160 mph crash was charged on Monday with stealing that Ferrari and another one plus a rare Mercedes worth a total of nearly $4 million.
ADVERTISEMENT www.dieselaction.com The Los Angeles District Attorney's office charged Bo Stefan M. Eriksson with nine criminal counts including drunk driving, embezzlement, grand theft auto, and possession of a firearm. If convicted he faces 14 years in prison. Eriksson, 44, was an executive for European video game company Gizmondo, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this year with more than $200 million in debt. Authorities said Eriksson was drunk at the time of the February crash and that he had imported his sports car collection to the United States in violation of a lease agreement with British financial institutions. The Ferrari Enzo wrecked in the crash was one in only 400 ever made and was going well over 160 mph when it smashed into a power pole on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on February 21. The crash ripped the car apart but nobody was injured seriously. Eriksson was arrested in April and is currently in jail while immigration officials conduct a separate inquiry. from yahoo news |

hah nice

14 years seems extensive
|
14 years for wrecking an enzo? i say give him the book!
|
I guess the last thing I would want to do before going broke is testing out a really fast car.
|
So I imagine what happened was he imported the cars and then stopped paying the lease.
|
Just think, had he not been speeding he could still be living his life and driving around in his nice cars UNDER the radar. But since he wanted to get fancy and do dumb shit, he's got the law all over him. I mean I understand it was 4 am and that's the best time to test out the car because every guy wants to see what it really can do. Just sucks he had to crash. One bad crash could lead to 14 years in prison. I hope he enjoyed those cars while he could.
I thought he was buying stolen cars from over sea's. Kind of a gone in sixty seconds type thing. |
That sucks. Those are awesome cars. Can't believe someone would be dumb enough to drive something that expensive while they were drunk.

14 does seem like a bit much. I bet he'll only do half the time. If he's got money for those cars, he's got money for a good lawyer. |

There are places you can rent track time .....

Hmm...doing 160mph in a stolen Enzo while intoxicated. He's lucky to only get 14 years. Had he killed somebody with his brainless stupidity, he'd be even more fucked.
What a dumbass. |
i could be wrong but didnt he already servetime before?

This is a man who owns a company that is $200 million in debt, yet he's still driving around in Ferraris. He's breaking dozens of local, state, federal, and international laws........ It's time for someone to put the breaks on him. Lock his ass up already. |

it is a $4million theft and he was drunk driving like a prick |
Rape charges are like half of these years or something. I guess a ferrari has greater value than a human soul. I can live with that. :)

Thats nuts.

How do people get themselves into things like that?
|
He goes way back, Maffia dealings in Sweden. Did time over there too. Told police at the crash scene that he was with homeland security. Had friends drive there and drop the same BS story. Police also discovered guns and drugs when raiding his $10M home.
He also stole two Enzos and an SLR Benz through insurance fraud in UK. Rochard: He didn't own Gizmondo, he was an executive with a big ass paycheck totaling $4M a year or whatever. |

nice :thumbsup |
doing 160 on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) is asking for it - too many curves - no room for error on some of them too - the ocean is right there.
