The only problem is that those articles are from a domain registration company so they have an interest in .EU becoming popular to cash in on the domains purchased through their site.

Not saying .EU will not be a good domain to own if you have the .COM

but it's no 100% guarantee it will ever be necessary to own the .EU

i can post 10 more articles like this from different sources...

and from personal experiences and registering .eu domains when they opened up .eu registrations were the fastest i've seen domains get snapped up.....

That might just be the reason for them not getting as great a domain as it was expected to be.. Will take years before anyone typing in a .eu domain will get to anything else than a domain parking page since very few seems to be bought for developing, so the great sucess might actually end up being .eu's biggest problem :(
