Playoffs start soon - will Detroit have two championship teams this year?

Detroit is a shitty place to live, but damn if we don't have some entertaining sports teams to watch.

Pistons/Wings dual champions this year?

discuss.

The Wings WILL take it all, look for a re-match Detroit VS Carolina... Detroit in 6 = Stanley Cup!

Pistons.....well the way they played Toronto the other night.... Best of Luck!

:)

I think they will win the cup :) Cause of the swede factor!

It's all about the Oilers! Like Detroit but I can't cheer for 'em if the Oilers are in.

The Piston's lost to Toronto after Flip threw his bench players out onto the court. Before that, Toronto was being murdered by the Piston starters.

Fuck No!! GO DUCKS!!

The Red Wings have had the best team for years.. As for the Pistons, they'll have to get through the Spurs to win a championship.

gecko 04-17-2006 09:02 AM

It's theirs to lose.

My playoff draft is coming up Wednesday, and I'm banking on a New Jersey-San Jose final. You read it here first. :)

Moraxian 04-20-2006 08:44 PM

If you held a gun to my head, I would say Detroit is going to win it all. That said, their record, although impressive, is padded with 24 games vs Columbus, Chicago and St. Louis. Calgary finished 21 points back. Not as impressive, consider that the the 5th place team in their division finished ahead of the 3rd place team in Detroit's division. Plus the hottest team in the West has been San Jose. For Detroit to make it to the finals, they're probably going to have to beat at least one of Calgary, Nashville and San Jose... no easy task. And they may have to beat two of them. And don't count out Dallas or Colorado.

The East is a little more clear. What it looks like to me is that either Ottawa or Carolina will have to play Buffalo in the second round. That team will have a much tougher go of it than the team that plays the other first round winner (either New Jersey or the Rangers). So if the Rangers win, I predict Ottawa will go to the finals (since they play the Rangers and not Buffalo) and if Jersey wins, I predict Carolina will go to the finals as Ottawa would have to play Buffalo...

Spurs will take it again. They're first in the West playing like crap and they always get better on play offs. The only way Pistons will take it is that Duncan and Ginobili are very injury prone, but if these two are healthy, SAS will repeat

Besides, this year they've backups for Manu, TP and the center position (Finley, NVE/Udrih, Rasho/Nazr respectively) which they didn't have last year. They're still the favorites, no matter what

MetaMan 04-20-2006 09:35 PM

Calgary is winning it all, we have THE best goaltender, and a young team ready to finish it off this year.

look for Calgary being a contender for at least the next 5 years.

no to mention our offense has been rolling, we have strong D and let in few goals,

well rounded teams win, and it will be calgary.

for those who said they finished alot of points back, take a look at their division, it is by far the best division in hockey, and they came out on top of it.

FLAMES WIN

harvey 04-20-2006 09:36 PM

btw, before anyone says anything, I know Udrih and Nazr were in the team last year, but none of them were in shape with the SAS game philosophy. Nazr was more a backup for Rasho, and nowadays Nazr is a starter. Udrih was considered almost a failure, and now is playing nice games when he has a chance. Given that TP is a known and proven PO flaker (even tho he really improved this year), NVE and Udrih could be very necessary for SAS :2 cents:
