Its all really about oil as usual. The Iranians and the major oil companies want instability in the region to keep the upward momentum going on oil prices.

Iran pumps about 4 Million barrels a day. The entire oil industry pumps about 85 Million barrels a day. At $70 per barrel thats $6 Billion a day being generated just at production level.

So with an easy $10+ accounted for due to the chaos, the oil industry takes in an extra $1 Billion a day on production.

Wont happen in 3 month or 3 years... Thats my vote.

I doubt it will happen.

But if it should, that should all but guarentee that the Dem's and independants will take over Congress and Presidency in the next elections.

Nevermind that during the 80's and very early 90's when Saddam should have been boosting the infrastructure of Iraq and trying to meet demand for food and medicine for a quickly growing population, he WAS trying to develop nuclear weapons and only stopped because of the lack of critical materials and that pesky Coalition force that attacked his country in retaliation for invading Kuwait. There might not have been WMD's, but it doesn't mean he didn't try in the past to make them.
