If you use IE you need this.....

Spybot Search and Destroy. I disabled the software for a few weeks and my computer got messed up bad with spyware and trojans. I had to reinstall the OS twice in one month. Once I installed it back it works beautiful. I love the security features for disabling changing the IE home page, registry settings, and control panels. None of that Spyware shit can get through it.

it also has a feature to disable any type of OS registry update...just make sure you disable it when installing new software.

I'll check it out. I have these installed on my computer and they work great. All freeware:

Spybot Search and Destroy
Spyblaster
Ad-aware
Hijack This
Spyhunter

A bit of common sense and staying up to date with patches goes a long way as well.
